BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Application Architect V for an opportunity in Richmond, VA


Position Title: Application Architect V


Location: Richmond, VA


Anticipated Start Date: ASAP


Please note this is the target date and is subject to change. BCforward will send official notice ahead of a confirmed start date.


Expected Duration: 12 Months.


Job Type: CONTRACT, ON-SITE


Pay Range: $70/hr.


Please note that actual compensation may vary within this range due to factors such as location, experience, and job responsibilities, and does not encompass additional non-standard compensation (e.g., benefits, paid time off, per diem, etc.).


Requirements:


Required Skills:


1. Experience in managing a metadata repository/data catalog


2. Data Analysis/Profiling


3. Basic SQL / querying skills


Preferred Skills:


1. Experience w/ Collibra - data catalog, workflow management


2. Erwin Data Modeler / Data Modeling


3. Experience working with data integration techniques (i.e. API, etc)


Characteristics of a Top Performer:


1. Concise communication skills; Ability to partner with cross functional teams; Ability to develop awareness of the business function to drive out detailed requirements and develop effective partnerships


Required Education Background:


1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, or information systems

Overview of Work:


1. * Maintenance of metadata repository


* Coordination of automating the metadata repository upload


* Integrating metadata with the data model for upload to the repository


* Metadata data quality reports and resolutions


* Validation between data environment and metadata contents

1. GT Data Strategy - metadata and model management


Questions the manager wants to know:


1. More detail around required/preferred skills to challenge their experience and background as well as to assess their communication skills.


The main tools will be Microsoft Office suite; SQL; SDLC tools like JIRA; Erwin Data Modeler; Collibra


Responsible for defining an architectural vision and architecture for the metadata strategy and the integration of metadata with data modeling and the metadata repository, which aligns with the enterprise architecture strategy, technology and platform choices. Describes the solution intent and the associated operating environment, determining the primary systems/subsystems and their interfaces, defining non-functional requirements and architectural runway to support new epics/features and expand into new opportunities. Ensures the solution is fit for purpose and use by working with stakeholders, vendors/service providers, and evaluating the impact of strategic design decisions. Contributes to best practices, standard templates, and the architecture roadmap for defined domains. Contributes in the creation of the architecture roadmap of defined domains (Business, Application, Data and Technology) in support of the product roadmap. Contributes to the development of best practices including standardized templates. Works across business and technology to create the solution intent and architectural vision for large complex solutions and evolves it based on an emerging backlog. Leads rapid shaping of a high level architecture with details filled in with emerging business requirements; ensures architecture is flexible and modular and designed to adapt easily. Facilitates solution driven discussions, leads the design of complex architectures, and finds creative solutions through practical experiments and POCs. Works with Product Manager/Owner to plan and prioritize technology focused backlog items for the architecture runway to enable business epics/features and expand into new opportunities. Clarifies the architecture for the development teams to support implementation, and provides solution options to resolve any architectural impediments. Performs design and code reviews to ensure all non-functional requirements for a solution are sufficiently met (e.g. security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability). Supports the Principal Engineer as needed to select the technology stack needed for solutions, and helps select preferred technology products. Educates team members on the technology practices, standardization strategies and best practices to create innovative solutions.



  • 5+ year in data analysis, evaluation, and modeling

  • Basic SQL

  • Experience in managing a metadata repository/data catalog

  • Ability to partner with other functional areas

  • Ability to develop awareness of business function for which application is being designed in order to drive out detailed requirements and form effective partnerships

  • Strong analytical ability, independent problem solving, and good communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and deliver in a fast paced agile environment

  • Expert knowledge and experience in software development methodologies and industry practices

  • Expert understanding and experience with building and deploying enterprise applications

  • Ability to work in a matrix environment with minimal supervision

  • Excellent written, verbal and diagramming skills. Expertise in using PowerPoint and clearly articulating findings/presenting solutions

  • Agile/Scrum
