Job role: Senior Platform Engineer
Location: Atlanta, GA
Duration: Full Time / Direct hire
Job Description:
A platform engineer designs, builds, and maintains a platform for software development. This role is commonly responsible for administering configurations for various environments, maintaining applications, communicating with platform users and stakeholders, and preparing reports for systems and assets.
- Provisioning infrastructure including servers, networking, storage, and cloud
- Developing automation scripts and tooling using an IT automation tool
- Building a CI/CD pipeline, including build/test/deployment workflows
- Monitoring system performance to analyze performance, security, and reliability
- Integrating security and compliance into the platform with encryption and access management
- Documenting configurations and processes so different teams understand how to use the same platform
- Collaborating with developers and other stakeholders to understand what they need from the platform
- Researching emerging technologies to build into the platform, as well as their potential impact
- Platform engineering tools are the apps and services in an internal developer platform (IDP), like configuration management, provisioning, testing, automation, CI/CD, and more
