Principal Network Engineer

Position Summary

Principle Network Engineer oversees the planning, design, and develops all aspects of network systems that meet requirements for performance, security and compliance with standards and regulations. Identifies network requirements for hardware, software, and services that will provide optimal solutions and meets the capacities of the company.

Job Duties / Key Accountabilities:

• Writing compelling responses to RFP requirements and develop cost model for proposed solution.
• Subject matter expert in implementation and installation of new products and/or infrastructure to support company growth and maintainability of existing products and infrastructure.
• Partnering with peers in the delivery of new capabilities required to support the business roadmap.
• Responsible for meeting all security requirements based on multiple audits and reviews.
• Drive innovation and modernization through the technology stack.
• Understand Wide Area Networks and its routing protocols to include but not limited to EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP
• Liaison with telecommunications providers to gather quotes, direct the ordering of data communications and delivery to meet project expectations
• Research and develop Internet of Things (IoT) to support data communications using Fourth Generation (4G), Long-Term Evolution (LTE), Fifth Generation (5G) and Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) between Point of Sales (POS) terminals and its transactional gaming system
• Understand Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure public cloud services interconnectivity between traditional and cloud-based Data Centers.
• Implement network design, feasibility, and cost studies.
• Develop monitoring, maintenance, expansion, contingency, and recovery plans and strategies to ensure the network is responsive to changes and demand.
• Develop budgets, policies, and procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to adapt and change business needs and priorities.
• Excellent communications skills, with the ability to represent and explain complex business or technical concepts internally and externally.
• Technical aptitude to translate business needs into network engineering opportunities to drive strategic agenda.
• Collaborate with other engineering and IT teams to complete cross-functional project work, acting as liaison between network engineering and other engineering teams.

Qualifications / Skills / Knowledge:

Required:

• Bachelor of Computer Science, electrical engineering, or related field and/or 20+ years of network engineering or related field experience.

• 10+ Years experience in a technology leadership position with a proven trac record of implementing large-scale infrastructure projects, managing multiple cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior-level management and key stake holders.
• Strong knowledge of IT network architecture, management, and support.
• Ability to develop technology strategies and roadmaps and work across internal departments and businesses to align strategies.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills are required and must include exceptional written and oral communications skills

• Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise
• Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE)
• Palo Alto Networks Certified Detection and Remediation Analyst (PCDRA)
• Basic knowledge of programming languages such as Python.
• Ability to analyze and troubleshooting packet captures using Wireshark.
