Location: Dublin, VA 24084 (On-site role)

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:
Torque Tooling Support: Specific Torque Tooling experience is a MUST. One needs to support integration, advancement and compliance of new torque tooling.

  • Project Management of torque tooling needs
  • Evaluate tooling requirements and develop RFQ’s
  • Manage end to end torque tooling projects with tooling vendors
  • Communicate with tooling vendors to ensure the best tooling solution(s) for the application.
  • Initiate internal reviews of proposed tooling solutions with key stakeholders
  • Test and validate selected tooling solutions through modelling and/or in a prototype or production environments
  • Organization of inbound tools and industrialization coordination
  • Identify and manage support needed for successful tooling implementations which include industrialization, infrastructure, tool setup, IT services, and vendor support (as needed)
  • Forecast lead times compared to deadlines
  • Provide product build support and troubleshooting for torque tooling
  • Cooperate with standards, processes, project deliverables, etc.
  • 3D CAD Experience (Creo Parametric, Creo View, Catia, AutoCAD, etc.) to evaluate fastener location and tool access to fasteners
  • Creatively implement advanced manufacturing solutions to support the needs from operations
  • Actively participate in all pillars of Volvo Production System. Utilize a structured approach and tools within VPS to identify and implement optimal tooling and equipment solutions
  • Within your area of expertise coordinate and lead continuous improvement activities
  • Mentor and educate production support personnel with equipment training
  • Actively engage in global tooling and equipment forums and represent the NRV plant as an expert in tooling and equipment
  • Support all initiatives in a pilot plant environment to successfully implement world class tooling and lean assembly processes
  • Participate in global network meetings with an in-depth knowledge of tooling and equipment, requirements, cost information, and business cases for tooling and equipment improvements
  • Establish and maintain the optimum tooling and equipment standards and best practices within competency area
  • Promote manufacturing safety, ergonomics, and efficiency through implementation of tooling and equipment
  • Actively participate in global networks and work collaboratively with others to implement standards for tooling and equipment, and best practices in the plant
  • Develop cost saving proposals and improve productivity

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science Field with 3+ Years of Tooling & Equipment Experience

And / Or

  • Associates Degree in Mechanical Design / Engineering Field with 5+ Years of Tooling & Equipment Experience
  • Proven experience in taking initiative, driving improvements, taking additional responsibilities, thinking outside the box, going to the extra mile.

Other Requirements:

  • Full-time, on-site support at Volvo Group Truck Operations-Dublin, Va
  • Occasional overtime as needed.
