Job Title Python Developer

Location Reston, Virginia (Onsite, Must be local to VA with DL Copy)

Duration Long Term

Job Description :-

Overview:

The team is responsible for supporting and enhancing multiple CI/CD tools across the enterprise, with a focus on customization and automation using Python. We are seeking a hands-on Developer (not a traditional DevOps Engineer) who has strong experience in Python, an understanding of AWS services (particularly EKS), and the ability to contribute to development efforts involving CI/CD templates, containerization, and platform enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, enhance, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and templates primarily using Python.
  • Support and develop customizations for the GitLab platform used across DevOps Engineering and shared services teams.
  • Work with AWS (EKS) as the platform transitions from EC2 to containerized infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with team members to understand development workflows and create scalable automation.
  • Develop infrastructure templates using Terraform, and contribute to best practices for containerization and orchestration.
  • Write clean, efficient, and reusable Python scripts to support GitLab automation and CI/CD process improvements.
  • Understand and support a heavy container-based workload running in AWS.

Required Skills:

  • Strong Python development experience, particularly in scripting for automation and infrastructure support.
  • Solid understanding of AWS, especially EKS and containerized environments.
  • Experience with GitLab, Terraform, and general CI/CD tooling.
  • Prior experience in a software development team, not just in operational roles.
  • Ability to analyze, maintain, and write automation templates.

Nice to Have:

  • Background or familiarity with: Java/J2EE, EJB, ASP, PowerBuilder, C/C++, SQL, CGI, Windows NT, Visual Basic, Oracle, Sybase, MQ Series.
  • Experience supporting high-volume, container-based environments.
  • Knowledge of legacy systems transitioning to modern cloud platforms.
