Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cybersecurity Assessment Technical Subject-Matter Expert (SME) to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for documenting and delivering the technical components of cybersecurity assessments and determining metrics collection methods in complex environments. This role requires a deep understanding of federal cybersecurity assessments and IT systems, including networking, databases, applications, and operating systems.

This is a fully remote role and can be performed from an approved location.
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cybersecurity Assessment Technical Subject-Matter Expert (SME) to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for documenting and delivering the technical components of cybersecurity assessments and determining metrics collection methods in complex environments. This role requires a deep understanding of federal cybersecurity assessments and IT systems, including networking, databases, applications, and operating systems.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive cybersecurity assessments measuring compliance with controls from NIST 800-53 rev 4 or newer.
- Document findings accurately and provide actionable recommendations for implementing appropriate controls.
- Analyze and mitigate complexities in the judiciary environment to enhance resilience and accuracy of ground truth statistics.
- Engage directly with clients to assess compliance, document findings, and recommend control implementations.
- Implement Risk Management Framework (RMF) controls, ensuring robust security measures.
- Collaborate with IT teams to understand and evaluate the security of networking, database, application, and operating system architectures.
- Stay updated with the latest cybersecurity trends and technologies to enhance assessment techniques and outcomes.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the cybersecurity assessment processes and methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience conducting federal cybersecurity assessments with NIST 800-53 rev 4 or newer.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Information Technology with a strong understanding of networking, databases, applications, and operating systems.
- At least 2 years’ experience with federal assessments including compliance with the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA).
- Minimum of 2 years in a customer-facing role, assessing compliance, documenting findings, and providing control implementation recommendations.
- Proven experience in implementing, not just assessing, RMF controls.
- Strong technical depth in IT and cybersecurity fields.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote setting.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Relevant certifications in cybersecurity are highly desirable.
Pay Range: $45.00 - $50.00 Hourly
