Location: Alpharetta, GA (Onsite 3 days/week)
Industry: Utilities (Oil & Gas or similar industry preferred)
Overview: A leading company in the utilities sector is seeking a Senior Controls Engineer to oversee engineering design and support activities for various Controls Systems. The role involves leading multiple projects concurrently and ensuring the safety and reliability of pipeline operations.
Responsibilities:

  1. Manage engineering projects to ensure adherence to budget and schedule.

  2. Act as a technology representative within project teams and coordinate work across multiple disciplines.

  3. Assist in managing integrators/vendors/contractors by participating in bid processes and reviewing deliverables.

  4. Oversee controls system integrators, ensuring completeness and accuracy of design deliverables.

  5. Serve as a resource for junior engineers and direct their work as needed.

  6. Consult with stakeholders to understand and document user requirements and functional specifications.

  7. Define test plans to ensure control system solutions meet requirements and function as intended.

  8. Ensure proper documentation of control system design for purchasing, installation, and maintenance.

  9. Verify HMI and PLC programming adheres to requirements and applicable standards.

  10. Lead troubleshooting and issue resolution related to control systems, including incident analysis.



Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Electrical, Controls, Computer, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, or related field.

  • Professional Engineering License/Certification preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Pipeline/Oil/Gas industry.

  • Bachelor's degree with equivalent experience may be considered.

  • Minimum 10 years of Industrial Automation/Controls engineering experience.

  • Valid Driver's License and ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

  • Expertise in PLC (preferably Rockwell or Allen Bradley), HMI, and communication protocols.

  • Advanced understanding of control strategies and signals within the petroleum pipeline industry.
