The Naval Postgraduate School (NPS), located in Monterey, California, is the premier graduate education and research institution for the U.S. Navy. Servingapproximately 2,500 military officers, Department of Defense (DoD) civilians, and international defense community members, NPS delivers defense-focused graduate and certificate education, including classified studies and interdisciplinary research. The Graduate Learning Center (GLC) home to the Graduate Writing Center (GWC) and the Thesis Processing Office (TPO) provides essential academic support services to help students meet rigorous graduate standards. These services include individualized instruction, writing workshops, thesis processing, and faculty development. The GLC is critical to maintaining NPS's high on-time graduation rate (~93%) and fostering academic integrity and excellence across disciplines, including engineering, national security affairs, systems engineering, and cyber operations.
Summary:
This role provides oversight and quality assurance for international thesis editing. The lead editor ensures consistency, training, and compliance across a distributed team of editors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assign editing tasks and ensure delivery timelines are met
- Conduct quality checks and feedback reviews
- Maintain logs on editing dates, page counts, and personnel involved
- Coordinate with TPO for updates and editorial policy alignment
Qualifications:
- Experience in managing editorial workflows and teams
- Expert-level academic editing ability
- Strong documentation and coordination skills
- Familiarity with government/military publishing standards
