About the Role:
As the AVP, Enterprise Application Architect at Everest, you'll be part of the Information Technology team based at the U.S. headquarters in Warren, New Jersey.
You have a proven track record of building high-quality enterprise solutions and are driven by results. Your strong architecture and engineering skills are backed by deep expertise in modern technologies such as Cloud Engineering Standards & Practices, DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, APIs, Infrastructure as Code, and Agile Delivery Practices. You've worked extensively in Microsoft Azure environments and have a solid grasp of cloud concepts. Your technical aptitude, analytical thinking, and communication skills enable you to solve complex problems and collaborate effectively across teams. This is a hybrid role, requiring you to be in the Warren, NJ office three days a week, with two days remote.

The base salary range for this position is $173,000 - $215,300 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location. All offers include access to a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).

Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
- Accountable for the oversight of the application portfolio, including ideation and selection of enterprise platforms that are the right fit for Everest. Drive rationalization and roadmap for applications in partnership with the Business architecture.
- In close collaboration with the architecture community, help drive the application modernization program.
- Identify and drive adoption of technical capabilities required to support gaps in current and new business capabilities and aligning with enterprise business drivers.
- Oversee and guide solution design aligning to architecture best practices and integration patterns.
- Maintain application ecosystem and technology and standards artifacts.
- Create and enhance methods and practices for architecture functions to aid collaboration across ETS.
- Manage technical debt, software lifecycle and risk mitigation across the enterprise.
- Provide leadership, collaborate, and mentor delivery teams and solution architects.
Qualifications:
- You hold a bachelor's degree (required) or a master's degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- You bring over 10 years of experience in technology strategy, architecture, engineering, and implementing software solutions and services.
- You have 5+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering and enterprise architecture, including engineering practices, tools, and standards.
- You stay current with technology trends and are committed to continuously expanding your knowledge and skills.
- You have domain knowledge of the insurance industry-preferably P&C-and understand the technologies and solutions relevant to this space.
- You've architected insurance solutions such as Guidewire or Insurity.
- You've also designed document management and workflow systems like OpenText and SharePoint.
- You're experienced with cloud-native integration technologies including messaging, streaming, and APIs.
- You enjoy mentoring technical staff and raising the overall technical competency of your team.
- You build and maintain strong relationships with business and technology leaders.
- Your written and verbal communication skills are strong, and you tailor your messaging to all levels of the organization.
- You thrive in team environments and foster cross-team collaboration.
- You've led technology modernization initiatives, including cloud-native migrations and API strategies.
- You understand value creation and business capability models.
- You've worked recently in a Scaled Agile environment and are familiar with tools like Jira and Confluence.
- You have current experience with Azure, APIs, accelerators, DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code, and containers.
- You're skilled in large-scale technology platforms, enterprise integration patterns, test automation, and security platforms.
- You define and document coding standards and best practices.
- You demonstrate strong thought leadership in modern architecture principles and technology modernization.
- You build strong partnerships with engineering teams to align skills with technology direction.
