Job Description:
Walmart is looking for a Senior Backend Automation Engineer with deep expertise in backend testing, API automation, and scalable test framework development. The ideal candidate should be highly skilled in test design for microservices and backend systems, with a strong understanding of REST APIs, data validation, and CI/CD integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust automation test suites for backend services and RESTful APIs.

  • Build reusable frameworks for test execution, reporting, and validations.

  • Work closely with backend developers, DevOps, and QA to ensure test coverage and code quality.

  • Integrate automation scripts with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions).

  • Perform root cause analysis on test failures and collaborate on quick resolutions.

  • Validate data across layers including APIs, databases, and logs.

Required Skills:

  • 8+ years in backend automation/testing roles.

  • Strong experience with Java/Python, REST API testing, and frameworks like RestAssured, TestNG, PyTest, or similar.

  • Hands-on with Postman, Swagger, and API mocking tools.

  • Experience with SQL, JSON, XML, and validating backend data integrity.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CircleCI) and Git.

  • Solid understanding of microservices and backend architecture.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with performance/load testing tools (e.g., JMeter, Gatling).

  • Familiarity with containerization tools like Docker or Kubernetes.

  • Exposure to Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar event-driven systems.

  • Experience in retail or e-commerce platforms is a plus.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and a strong team player in a remote setting.

  • Ability to independently troubleshoot and drive test automation strategy.
