Job description
An Optio DCS (Document Customization Server) role involves customizing, developing, and maintaining business documents (invoices, POs, etc.) from ERP systems like QAD or J.D. Edwards, using Optio's tools and proprietary code (DCL) to merge data with logos/graphics, apply business rules, and automate delivery via fax, email, or print, requiring skills in ERP integration, SQL, and potentially AS/400 or Windows server admin for a technical document specialist

Key Responsibilities & Duties
Document Design & Formatting: Create and modify professional-looking documents (invoices, statements, checks) with custom branding, logos, barcodes, and fonts using the Optio DesignStudio.
ERP Integration: Set up and manage interfaces between ERP systems (QAD, J.D. Edwards, Infor) and Optio to pull print data.
Data Mapping & Business Logic: Define rules to identify and place data from ERP spool files onto the correct document fields.
Scripting & Logic: Use Optio's Document Customization Language (DCL) or SQL to perform calculations, retrieve data, or control document flow.
Output Delivery Automation: Configure delivery to printers, email (PDF/XML), fax, or other digital formats.
Server Administration: Manage Optio server settings, print queues (like optio_tr), and potentially AS/400 or Windows server environments where Optio runs.
Troubleshooting: Resolve issues with print streams, data formatting, or delivery failures.

Essential Skills & Qualifications
Software Expertise: Deep knowledge of Optio DCS, Optio DesignStudio, and related output/print management.
Database Skills: SQL for data retrieval/manipulation.
ERP Knowledge: Familiarity with ERP systems (QAD, J.D. Edwards, Infor).
Technical Skills: Understanding of print streams, spool files, virtual printers, and potentially AS/400, RPG, CL, or scripting.
Analytical Skills: Problem-solving for complex document logic and delivery issues.
