Interconnection and Transmission Analyst

Primary Services is excited to present an outstanding opportunity with a renowned global multi-energy company operating across 130 countries. We are actively seeking a talented Transmission Analyst to join our team in Austin, TX. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in analyzing and optimizing interconnected renewable energy grid operations while conducting research to enhance process efficiency.

As a Transmission Analyst, your key responsibilities will include meticulously reviewing and analyzing data to determine the transmission and interconnection grid capacity required for the successful delivery of wind, solar, and storage project outputs.

Responsibilities:

• Utilize analytical tools and data to assess interconnection and grid capacity for the successful integration of wind, solar, and storage projects.
• Summarize power systems analyses and effectively communicate findings to development teams and relevant stakeholders.
• Review, develop, and ensure the accuracy of interconnection applications, study agreements, drawings, and specifications.
• Provide technical support and expertise for wind, solar, and energy storage projects to various internal teams within the organization.
• Offer transmission and interconnection support, coordinating with different Independent System Operators (ISOs) and Transmission Operators (TOs) across the United States.
• Conduct basic in-house studies to evaluate the feasibility and impact of proposed projects on the transmission system.
• Collaborate with external consultants to validate data, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of analysis and recommendations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
• Previous experience working as a transmission planning engineer, transmission engineer, or similar positions.
• Proficiency in running power flow analyses using tools such as PowerWorld, PSSe, TARA, etc.
• Familiarity with economic transmission market planning and studies using tools like UPLAN, PROMOD, PLEXOS, etc.
• Knowledge of different RTO/ISO transmission planning and generation interconnection processes.
• Experience using PowerWorld software is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical skills with a background in planning and modeling.
• Understanding energy markets, particularly PJM and MISO, is highly valued.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, identify patterns, and draw insights.
• The perfect Candidates will have a physics background.
