While this role is remote, candidates local to the DFW area will be given preference and occasional visits to the office in McKinney, TX will be required for important planning meetings.

ABOUT
Our client's Cloud Engineering team is responsible for providing a reliable, scalable, secure, performant, and cost-effective underlying infrastructure for all other departments to build upon. The Principal Network Engineer, as a member of the Cloud Engineering team, is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining reliable, scalable, secure, performant, and cost-effective networking solutions across multiple data centers and public cloud environments.
We are seeking cloud-savy, automation-driven candidates who are highly technical and hands-on with data centers and cloud networking. Candidates must be able to design, implement , automate and manage scalable and secure networks across on-prem data centers and public cloud environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Data center evaluation, onboarding, and management
- ISP evaluation, onboarding, and management
- Networking design, configuration, and monitoring
- Hardware evaluation, qualification, onboarding, and management
- Capacity planning
- Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC), configuration management, and centralized secret storage to automate the provisioning and management of infrastructure, ensuring consistent and repeatable environments.
- Implement robust observability solutions to monitor system performance (logs, metrics, traces) using tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
- Configure alerting for proactive issue resolution.
- Oversee installation, configuration, patching, and updating of network equipment to ensure reliable, secure, performant, cost-effective operation.
- Optimize resource allocation to ensure efficient utilization of hardware capabilities.
REQUIRED
- Strong Networking Design and Management Experience
- Experience with ISP management
- Must possesses cloud networking experience and must be comfortable working in cloud networking setups.
- Must be well-versed in IaC and Automation
- Must be skilled in configuration management tools
- Must have hands-on experience with monitoring and observability tools
- Must be able to configure alerts and perform proactive monitoring for network health.
- Must be experiences evaluating, qualifying and managing network hardware.
- Must understand capacity planning principles.
- Must be familiar with patching, securing and updating network infrastructure.
- Must have an understanding of zero trust principles, encryption standards and secure network design.
PREFERRED
- Experience with multi-cloud networking
- Certifications (CCNP, CCIE, AWS Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer)
- Experience with centralized secrets managements (HashiCorp Vault is a plus).
- Familiarity with resource optimization and cost control.
- Exposure to SDN or network automation frameworks.
