Title: AWS Cloud Engineer - Cloudera

Location: Reston, VA 20191. (Hybrid)

Duration: 6 Months Contract + Extension

  • This position is hybrid. Candidates should be able to work onsite in Reston, VA up to once per week (more likely once per month). Furthermore, candidates must be comfortable coming onsite for an in-person interview.

Overview:

  • Work with a leading firm to drive critical cloud initiatives as a Lead Cloud System Engineer. Our client is seeking highly experienced and hands-on cloud professionals to contribute to various projects, including building out cloud landing zones, migrating on-premise applications to AWS, and supporting advanced cloud services. These roles require strong technical expertise in AWS, a focus on automation, and the ability to collaborate across diverse technical teams while adhering to robust security protocols.
  • This role focuses on AWS core cloud skills with an emphasis on Cloudera experience, including platform support, AMI creation, and automation.

You will

  • Support and maintain the Cloudera platform within the AWS environment, including upgrades and troubleshooting.
  • Create and manage Amazon Machine Images (AMIs).
  • Work with Linux systems for various cloud operations.
  • Implement automation solutions using tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of overall IT experience.
  • 5+ years of experience specifically in cloud environments.
  • Strong AWS core skills.
  • Experience with Cloudera, including managing and maintaining Cloudera systems.
  • Experience with Linux systems.
  • Experience with AMI creation.
  • Hands-on experience with Terraform or CloudFormation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting Cloudera SaaS offerings where the control plane is managed externally and the data plane is within a VPC.
  • AWS certifications.
  • Background in programming (Java, C#, C++) for automation development.
  • Experience with air-gapped environments and handling PHI/PII.
