Iridium is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Network Administrator to join our dynamic Network Operations team. In this role, you will collaborate with a team of experts to address and resolve a wide range of complex networking challenges across the organization. This position offers an excellent opportunity to enhance your expertise in maintaining and optimizing network infrastructure and equipment. What You'll Do:
- Maintain, deploy, and manage sophisticated network infrastructure including IP switching, routers, and firewalls using Cisco Catalyst L3 switches, Nexus 9K platforms, and Fortigate firewalls
- Spearhead the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of networking and security hardware and operating systems, generating ideas and applying innovative solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and ensure network infrastructure aligns with organizational goals
- Ensure network performance and reliability by monitoring system performance, tuning configurations, and performing regular maintenance
- Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the network and security industry, technologies, and best practices
- Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive IT documentation including network diagrams, standard operating procedures, and best practices
Experience & Education Requirements / EEO
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field OR equivalent relevant experience in lieu of degree
- 8+ years of experience in Information Technology
- 7+ years of experience with Cisco Routers/Switches with advanced knowledge of TCP/IP network administration
- 3+ years of experience with managing and maintaining routers, switches, and other vendors' networking technologies as well as Cisco ASA's and Palo Alto firewalls
- Strong knowledge of and multi-year hands-on experience with IP communication protocols such as OSI Model, Spanning-Tree, VDC, VTP, VSS, and routing protocols such as OSPF and EIGRP
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues to groups outside of your team or those who are unfamiliar with the topic
- Have confidence and be able to easily build relationships with leadership and colleagues outside of your team
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem management skills in a dynamic environment
- Capable of being a strong motivator and source of direction for the team and role modelling commitment to your team's goals
- Proficiency with Microsoft Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Teams
Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table:
- Cisco (CCNP or higher preferred) and/or Firewall vendors security certifications
- 5+ years in or supporting a 24/7 Operations Environment
- Previous experience with any of the following:
- Working in a datacenter or telecommunications environment
- Mid-to-large scale LAN/WAN networks and security
- SolarWinds, Cisco ISE, and/or Wireshark platforms
- Windows and UNIX environments
- Troubleshooting network connectivity issues at both an application and desktop OS level
We'll also need you to :
- Provide 24/7 on-call assistance as needed to support business operations
- Be able to travel up to 10%
- Be able to lift 30 lbs.
- Must be able to work a hybrid schedule that includes a minimum of 3 days in the office
