Work Arrangement

Onsite - This position requires the employee to be onsite full time. The primary work location will be at the General Motors Global Technical Center in Warren, MI.

The Role

We are seeking an Robotics Engineer to join our Advanced Development team within GM's new Autonomous Robotics Center (ARC) Organization. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and integrating electronic systems for advanced automation and robotics applications. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to create innovative solutions that enhance the performance, reliability, and safety of our robotic systems.

You will play a key role in advancing our automation capabilities and ensuring that our electronic systems are at the forefront of the industry.

What You Will Do
  • Lead and work on the design and development of robotics systems for advanced automation and manufacturing applications
  • Develop and optimize algorithms for robotics perception, navigation, planning and controls
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers, software engineers, and domain experts to integrate robotics systems with hardware and software components
  • Develop advanced prototyping and conduct tests and evaluations to validate the performance, reliability, and safety of robotics systems and iterate designs based on feedback and data analysis
  • Participate in design reviews, provide technical insights, and contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes.
  • Work closely with robotics expert and product managers to understand user requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices in robotics engineering and lead and participate academic/industrial collaborations.
  • Generate intellectual property, document results and publish papers


Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • 5+ years of experience in designing and developing dynamic/robotics systems, such as autonomous vehicle, or autonomous mobile robots (AMR) OR 2 years of industry experience combined with Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of robotic kinematics, dynamics, and motion control.
  • Experience in integrating mechanical, electrical, and software components and conducting testing and validations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.


What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Experience in the robotics or automation industry and deploying robotic systems in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with robotics frameworks such as ROS/ROS2, (e.g., Nav2, MoveIt).
  • Familiarity with AI/ML applications in robotics.
