Drupal Developer

Qualifications:

The contractor must be able to perform the work of a Back End Drupal Developer by having the qualifications listed below:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field of study, or equivalent IT work experience
• Minimum 5 years of web development experience with large organizations
• Minimum 2 years professional experience with Drupal 10
• Minimum 3 years experience working with databases like Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, or DB2.

Required Drupal 10/11 Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 5 years programming experience of Object-Oriented PHP.
• Minimum 2 years experience with developing custom modules.
• Experience with using Core APIs for building and extending Drupal functionality.
• Experience of theme integration, not limited to work with Drupal's theme system using Render API and JavaScript APIs, and work with Drupal Twig templates and syntax.
• Implementing Drupal caching strategies using Cache API.
• Experience in Drush 12 or the latest version.
• Ability to manage dependencies using Composer.
• Familiarity with different levels of caching.
• Analyzing and resolving security issues arising from site configuration and custom code.
• Experience with Automated Testing.
• Experience on configuring Drupal 10/11 websites using SAML authentication and/or OpenID Connect to integrate with IDM or similar entities. Familiar set up SSO with Auth0.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript or ES6.
• Strong experience with Drupal 10/11 that includes building global templates, reusable code snippets, and custom modules, applying and creating patches with Git, configuration, and Drupal coding standards.
• Experience in API development using different IDEs and integration.
• Experience with editing tool Sublime Text, or similar, and SASS, or another CSS preprocessor.
• Experience in GIT Version Control or similar.
• Proficient with Windows or Linux Desktop and Command Line Interface.
• Proficient with Linux on Windows with WSL.
• Experience with Identity Management or Single Sign-on technologies is a plus.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of web development experience using PHP and/or REACT.
• Familiarity with Acquia Dev Desktop on Windows environment.
• Familiarity with the development and maintenance of responsive and accessible websites using the latest W3C web standards and ADA Compliant guidelines.
• Strong QA skills and ability to review work and thoroughly test code.
• Possess a willingness to transfer skills to team members.
• Possess a willingness and attitude to help customers find workable solutions.
• Analyze and resolve site performance issues arising from site configuration and custom code.
• Ability to assess business requirements and efficiently design, develop, and implement software solutions to meet those needs.
• Solid understanding of web application development processes, from the layout/user interface to relational database structures.

Description:

Upgrade Drupal 10 websites to Drupal 11

• Develop Drupal 11 compatible applications and Drupal front-end site building.
• Develop custom modules and scripts where necessary.
• Utilize APIs and implement where necessary.
• Integrate Drupal applications with City s authorized SSO.
• Development and maintenance of responsive and accessible Drupal websites using the latest W3C web standards and ADA compliant guidance.. Ensure websites adhering to the mandated rule, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, or the latest version.
• Support Drupal websites back-end and front-end components including up-to-date Drupal Core and modules as well as applications scalability. Utilize tools to conduct unit testing, integration testing, and regression testing. Build and maintain websites according to City s Web Standard and Policy.
• Create clean and elegant web interfaces from mockups using UI/UX design, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
• Work in all areas of Drupal theming, such as: UI, configuration, basic site administration, creation / manipulation / overriding of templates, preprocessing, and writing / overriding functions.
• Author and maintain documentation for code as well as develop functional specifications and technical documentation.
• Work collaboratively within a team of web designers and developers in order to ensure that solid code is delivered within reasonable timelines.
• Working with Agile development methodologies such as SCRUM.
• Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats with internal and external teams.
• Perform code reviews of work produced by other members of the development team
• Debug problems, using knowledge of multiple browsers.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Ability to write secure, reusable and easily maintainable code that adheres to software development best practices.
