Location Designation: Hybrid - 3 days per quarter
As the Infrastructure Platform Engineering Leader, you will lead a team of engineers devoted to creating highly resilient hybrid cloud platforms to support NYL's business operations. The platforms include mainframe, distributed systems, virtualization, public cloud, and Kubernetes. In this role you will drive our multiyear strategy to ensure our platforms are evergreen and evolving to support ongoing NYL modernization programs. Stakeholder engagement is a critical success factor.
A successful leader is a close partner with NYL Technology Leaders and is ahead of the demand for modern self-provisioned infrastructure as code (IaC) platforms. A comprehensive GenAI Strategy is essential for delivering capabilities rapidly while reducing operating costs. We're aggressively modernizing our core platforms which require active leadership and the ability to transform our infrastructure services to leverage public cloud and micro services architectures.

Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.

What You'll Do:
- Manage the Cloud Engineering, Storage, Compute, Mainframe Engineering, DBA Support, and Middleware Support teams.
- Serve as a thought leader, driving strategy for successful program delivery by defining objectives, aligning resources, leveraging GenAI, and fostering collaboration across teams to ensure impactful outcomes.
- Leverage Kubernetes technology to deploy, install, upgrade, patch, and maintain resilient, reliable solutions for developing, testing, securing, and shipping software applications to production.
- Evolve infrastructure to be deployed via pipelines, integrating cloud services, base images, and YAML files to create full-stack patterns, raising infrastructure abstraction to empower software developers focused on business capabilities.
- Actively engage in Agile ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, backlog grooming, and performance metric tracking to ensure continuous delivery of high-quality products.
- Improve NYL Cyber Security through efficient processes to detect and remediate vulnerabilities and non-standard configurations in infrastructure services.
- Build and maintain strong relationships to promote cross-technology contributions aimed at improving developer experience.
- Review monthly service management and consumption metrics for products and services, addressing deviations or SLA deficiencies.
- Maintain and enhance the infrastructure services product and service catalog, including monthly updates to consumers and guidance on cost-control levers.
- Benchmark product per-unit costs annually to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
Business & Technology Skills:
- Trusted and respected as a thought leader, with the ability to influence and persuade business leaders, IT leadership, and development teams to adopt infrastructure shared services.
- Highly collaborative, with a proven track record of building guilds and collaboration channels that raise organizational effectiveness in software development.
- Demonstrates empathy for the software development community and champions continuous improvement to optimize the end-to-end software delivery process.
- Advocates for an AI-first approach to enhancing the developer experience.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, System Analysis, or a related field of study; or equivalent experience.
- Experience operating in SAFe Agile and Scrum frameworks.
- Practical experience developing and deploying ML/AI-driven developer experiences.
- In-depth technical knowledge of Kubernetes, Harness.io, GitHub, GitHub Copilot, Checkmarx, Artifactory, MABL, Backstage, VSCode, AWS Services, and one or more software development frameworks.
- At least five years of leadership experience.
- At least five years of software development experience.
- AWS certifications are a plus.
