THE ROLE

As a key member of the Security Engineering team, the Senior Staff Security Engineer will implement and provide leadership support for operations of Firewalls (WAF / NGFW), Proxies, Load Balancers, IPS/IDS, ZTNA and other technologies. The position will ensure appropriate security controls and monitoring are in place by coordinating with project teams, users and company partners.

As a Senior Staff Security Engineer, you will help mature the security posture of the corporate environment. You will influence others with your security mindset and inspire change at all levels. You will have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. You will be a team player and leader, organized, responsible and a highly detailed problem solver to the packet level!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Management & Strategic Leadership
    • Lead cross-functional security initiatives and infrastructure programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards.
    • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and budgets for security infrastructure upgrades and integrations.
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for executive stakeholders, providing regular updates on program status, risks, and mitigation strategies.

Team Leadership & Mentorship
    • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the security engineering team.

Security Engineering
    • Develop and maintain high-availability, enterprise-grade security infrastructure with a focus on firewall systems, network segmentation, and zero-trust principles.
    • Evaluate business requirements and identify gaps in solutions weighing in on potential trade-offs.
    • Lead the evaluation and deployment of next-generation firewalls (NGFW), intrusion prevention systems (IPS), and secure web gateways.
    • Lead efforts in network hardening, micro-segmentation, and secure access service edge (SASE) architecture.
    • Drive adoption of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and secure cloud connectivity models.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Detailed technical experience in the installation, configuration and operation of network security solutions in a large enterprise.
  • Excellent TCP/IP networking skills and solid understanding of TCP/IP stack.
  • Strong understanding of core internet protocols and applications.
  • Extensive knowledge of different security threats.
  • Patch Management of security systems.
  • Experience in ZTNA / SASE
  • Experience in securing and deployment of public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Practical knowledge of the following technologies: Routing, Switching, VPN, LAN, WAN, Network Security, Stateful Inspection Firewall, NGFW, Firewall policies, NAT, IPS, Botnet, DDoS, Web Filtering, Reverse proxies, Certificate management (PKI), MFA.
  • Able to work independently and as a member of a high-performance team.
  • Manage projects using appropriate tools and communication methods.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks (many are complex) simultaneously and to bring activities to closure.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS

Bachelor's or Master's degree in information security or information technology or related field. Professional certifications such as CISSP, GIAC, CCIE Security, Palo Alto Networks
