Overview: The organization manages enterprise data center infrastructure and core applications supporting Financials, Cloud File Systems (CFS), Messaging, Mobility, and Content Management System (CMS) platforms. As systems scale and hybrid environments evolve, we require specialized engineering expertise to strengthen our Enterprise Data Protection and Recovery posture using Commvault technologies.

Objective: We are seeking an experienced Commvault Data Protection Engineer with deep expertise in designing, implementing, and managing enterprise backup, recovery, and data protection solutions across on-premises and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, deploy, and maintain Commvault-based enterprise data protection solutions supporting hybrid workloads (messaging, databases, file systems, and applications).
  • Manage and optimize Commvault Hyperscale, Metallic, and integrated cloud data protection environments across AWS and on-prem infrastructures.
  • Oversee backup, recovery, and replication strategies to ensure data integrity, high availability, and compliance with organizational policies.
  • Collaborate with storage, server, and application teams to integrate Commvault with enterprise systems (Exchange, SQL, Oracle, Windows/Unix file systems, VMware, etc.).
  • Automate data protection workflows using Ansible, PowerShell, or Python to streamline operations and improve consistency.
  • Conduct performance monitoring, capacity planning, and troubleshooting for backup infrastructure and associated storage tiers (PURE, NetApp, Cisco SAN).
  • Provide 24x7 on-call support and coordinate activities across data center sites and approved telework arrangements.
  • Support the Enterprise Storage & Data Protection (ESDP) branch in defining standards, policies, and automation opportunities to enhance service delivery.
  • Develop operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base content to support ongoing administration and onboarding.
  • Participate in technology evaluations and recommend enhancements to strengthen enterprise data protection capabilities.

Position Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of IT experience, including 6+ years specializing in enterprise data protection and recovery in hybrid environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Commvault Hyperscale, Commvault Command Center, and Metallic Cloud Storage Service.
  • Expertise with storage platforms such as PURE FlashArray/FlashBlade, NetApp, and Cisco SAN.
  • Strong understanding of VMware (vSphere, vCenter), NAS/SAN management, and BCDR methodologies.
  • Proficiency in automation/scripting (Ansible, Python, PowerShell) to enhance backup operations and reporting.
  • Familiarity with AWS storage services (S3, EBS, Glacier) and hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, OpenShift, or container backup solutions (Portworx, Kasten) preferred.
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
