Job Details
SUMMARY:
Leads assigned engineering technician tasks and maintenance activities. This role requires a high level of autonomy, including evaluating alternative courses of action and making independent decisions. Acts as a subject matter expert in the implementation of maintenance programs, automation systems, PLCs, and facility projects focused on equipment reliability. The successful candidate should be proficient in Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and AutoCAD.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for all PLC programming related to mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and automation systems to ensure equipment reliability.
Lead the installation and setup of industrial machinery and automation systems.
Provide advanced technical support to maintenance personnel, including troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues during both regular operations and planned outages.
Develop and implement maintenance schedules; identify and order necessary parts; ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory standards.
Conduct regular equipment inspections, perform repairs, and replace outdated technology or systems as needed.
Install and upgrade system components to optimize performance and conduct diagnostics to identify necessary adjustments.
Participate in personnel decisions, including hiring, performance evaluations, and promotions within the department.
Analyze equipment performance to identify improvement opportunities and implement effective solutions.
Identify and implement cost-reduction initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
Mentor and supervise other engineering technicians.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
May include supervision or leadership of other engineering technicians.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Strong commitment to environmental safety and regulatory compliance with all local, state, and federal guidelines.
Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology or a related field; or completion of a technical trade program or associate degree in engineering technology with at least 7 years of related experience.
Prior supervisory or lead technician experience is preferred.
Experience in PLC and robotic programming required.
Excellent attention to detail with strong written, verbal, and analytical communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, and AutoCAD.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Frequent walking, sitting, and manual dexterity (use of hands to handle or feel) are necessary. Occasional standing and reaching. Must occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This role is performed in an industrial setting with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts. The environment may include varying temperatures, loud noise, and physically demanding conditions.
