Job Title: Senior Application Systems Developer (RPG/IBMi)

Location: Livonia, MI (Open to Boston, MA) | Hybrid (In-office Tue/Wed/Thu)

Overview:

Join [Insert Company Name Here] as a Senior Application Systems Developer! We're seeking an experienced developer to design, build, test, implement, and maintain critical enterprise applications, primarily using RPG on the IBM i platform. You'll troubleshoot issues, enhance systems supporting our business (life insurance domain knowledge is a plus), collaborate across teams, and potentially mentor others.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, enhance, and support RPG and non-RPG applications through the full SDLC.
  • Lead design, coding, testing, and implementation efforts.
  • Troubleshoot complex application issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Participate in on-call support rotations.
  • Manage source code, conduct peer reviews, and adhere to development standards.
  • Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in CS, Tech, Business, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of enterprise application development experience.
  • Expert-level proficiency in RPG (all versions) and the IBM i platform.
  • Strong experience with SQL/Embedded SQL, CL programming, and ILE concepts.
  • Proven ability in Batch and Online development on IBM i.
  • Experience using RDi (Rational Developer for i).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of DB2, Java/J2EE, Microsoft Stack (C#, VB), XML, Web Services.
  • Experience with FileNet (or similar), File Encryption (PGP), Turnover.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies, testing tools, and project management.
  • LOMA certifications (281/291), IBM/PMP certifications are a plus.
