Job Description
If you are in search of a new opportunity where you are able to use your accumulated knowledge to lead and develop a quality inspection team, this position is for you! The role is responsible for effective quality leadership, development, and performance (quality control, continuous process improvement, team development) for quality inspection operations in Austin, TX. In this position you will work closely with product line managers, other program quality/quality assurance professionals, and BAE Systems logistics / supply chain counterparts to provide value-added operations inspector management, support of defect detection for buy items, and guidance toward achieving near-term goals, longer-term strategic objectives, and compliance to customer and regulatory requirements.

Primary duties include:
  • Provide direction, supervision, and guidance of receiving inspection team (incoming inspection) to ensure alignment with customer requirements, quality policy, industry standards (J-STD-001, IPC-A-600/610), strategic objectives and organizational goals
  • Collaborate with management for planning, execution, and oversight of process improvements, projects of special interest, and product line or business area related initiatives
  • Lead the receiving inspection team to determine strategy and tactical deployment, improve performance (using six sigma tools), lower costs, and generate innovative solutions with the product lines and business areas
  • Provide employee performance management, merit and performance reviews, coaching, counseling, career development, training, employee administration, and effective communications
  • Prepare and discuss employee evaluations; provide timely feedback to employees; support ranking and merit meetings during the performance review period; encourage employee development
  • Work with programs to determine staffing requirements, coordinate personnel assignments to programs, and participate in department recruiting


  • Required Education, Experience, & Skills
    • Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience or 8 years of experience in lieu of degree
    • Experience in project, program, or portfolio quality
    • Proven performance in leadership of people, technical and resource management, mentoring, coaching and communication
    • Ability to provide career guidance to employees
    • Strong mentoring skills to collaboratively develop performance and development objectives
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to monitor employee performance and provide feedback
    • Ability to help resolve technical, staffing and personnel issues
    • Ability to represent the employee and serve as an advocate for the employee
    • Experience managing, staffing and developing personnel in a technical environment
    • Experience with large teams and understanding of multi-site challenges
    • Excellent teamwork, communication and coordination skills
    • Experienced/proficient with AS9100/9102

    Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
    • Understanding of industry dimensional inspection techniques and equipment including GD&T, CMM, optical comparator, and Keyence automated inspection equipment
    • Significant experience working with non-engineering functions and business processe
    • Green belt trained/certified

    Pay Information
    Full-Time Salary Range: $92290 - $156860

    Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
