Job Summary:
Leads the operational management of Epic and other clinical applications, ensuring optimal use of technology to improve patient care, clinical workflows, revenue cycle and overall organizational performance. Partners with the Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) to develop and lead UMMC s overall strategic direction and governance of Epic. This role requires strong leadership, clinical informatics expertise and a deep understanding of Epic Systems. Responsible for most complex process analysis, design, and simulation especially in the healthcare mission.
Education & Experience
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of work experience in clinical applications support two (2) years of which in a supervisory role.
Certifications, Licenses, or Registration Required:
N/A
Preferred Qualifications:
Epic clinical certifications/accreditations, Clinical practice licensure (nursing, physician or clinical licensure), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CAHIMSS), or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMMSS) a plus.

Comprehensive knowledge of Epic healthcare clinical and revenue cycle applications. Skilled in identifying system issues, evaluating user needs, and implementing solutions. Proficient in computer systems, programming logic, and current healthcare IT trends. Experienced in planning, developing, testing, and troubleshooting complex systems. Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and motivate teams while staying current with emerging technologies and best practices. The role requires a forward-thinking leader who can drive technology innovation in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment while ensuring the organization s clinical systems remain at the forefront of industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and maintain clinical information technology solutions used in clinical settings, ensuring they meet budgets and deadlines.
- Develops and oversees implementation and ongoing maintenance of clinical applications (including EPIC).
- Will provide leadership in the field and work closely with the CIO, CMIO, CMO, Chief Nursing Officers (CNO), Hospital CEO s, Associate Vice Chancellors, Patient Care Directors, and Ambulatory Clinic Directors.
- Ensuring the development and implementation of a governance model to promote adherence to standards and policies for evaluation, implementation, development and management across UMMC Health System.
- Articulating the vision for clinical workflow to ensure success in implementing technology that benefits patient care.
- Identifies and analyzes the design of processes, workflows, and resource utilization and implements appropriate changes to improve work effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency that support the overall goals of the enterprise.
- Continuously monitor industry trends and advancements in healthcare IT, particularly clinical applications, and recommend innovative solutions to keep UMMC on the cutting edge of technology. Actively pursue opportunities to enhance clinical outcomes through better use of technology.
- Serve as the executive leader responsible for developing and executing the organization's Epic and clinical applications optimization strategy driving system performance, enhancing user adoption, improving clinical workflows, and ensuring the technology supports high-quality, efficient patient care.
- Develop and maintain an Epic training program for technical and clinical teams to ensure maintenance of knowledge and continuous improvement in skill.
- Streamline and prioritize optimization requests.
- Resolve conflicting demands from users for service-related items and establish operating procedures as needed.
- Lead and manage clinical applications for multiple geographic locations, ensuring smooth transitions from implementation to production.
- Develop and maintain clinical applications and ensure they meet clinical and business requirements.
- Collaborate with leadership to create a vision for clinical systems improvement and work with IT to define strategies for delivery.

Physical and Environmental Demands:
