Project Description
Information Technology IT Client Solutions Project Centre CSPS requires an IT Project Manager PM senior with industry proven experience supporting implementation projects from small to large scale often with multiple workstreams implementing several solution components. IT CS provides IT solutions to our internal Business Unit BU Clients. These solutions may include software development vendor package procurement and implementations or existing application enhancements/upgrades as duties to meet our client project requirements. All projects will follow approved Project Management and Software Solutions Methodologies and will adhere to applicable policies and processes.
This IT Project Manager - Senior role will coordinate with othe IT resources external vendors and other project and business unit stakeholders to implement project solutions following the client's policies processes and project methodologies for enterprise integrations.
This position requires an individual with excellent communication and inter-personal skills along with the ability to work independently and as part of a diversified team. This individual must have the ability to develop trusted relationships and demonstrate innovation / initiative with a focus on customer service. The project / portfolio the successful candidate will work is varied largely focused in Protective Services Calgary 911 Calgary Fire Department Calgary Police Service Transit Public Safety Community Services Human Resources HR Recreation and Social programs.
A strong breadth of Project Management experience is necessary including skilled negotiation with clients and vendors gathering of requirements scope management and relationship management. Technical aptitude varies depending on the projects they will be assigned with experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Computer Aided Dispatch CAD UKG workforce management valuable and others. Depending on the scope and pace of each project the successful candidate will typically handle multiple projects concurrently.
The Project Manager duties frequently include the following:
1. Leads overall project planning and overall execution of the project
2. Ensures overall project outcomes and deliverables are met
3. Coordinates IT resources and activities Client Solutions Operations Application Support etc.
4. Responsible for overall technical decisions as they relate to corporate IT standards processes and methodologies
5. Responsible for following processes within the IT-PMO Project Management Office
6. Responsible for following the IT Software Solutions Methodology SSM including ensuring that touchpoints to IT groups and other groups within The Corporation are completed
7. Manages charter plan budget risks/issues project decisions Project Change Requests PCRs and Project Close
8. Provide status updates to the Project Sponsor project governance committees
9. Strong facilitation verbal and written communication skills to communicate both internally and externally with personnel at all levels
10. Receive and execute direction from IT Leader and IT Management
11. Ability to influence others without direct supervisory control
12. Assist other project leads in their individual deliverables and ensure they are completed including: Requirements Specifications Architecture Design Database Analysis and Design Test Plans/Cases Operations Guides User Acceptance Test UAT Training Service Desk Scripts Production Deployment Signoffs Warranty

Top Skills Details
1. Six (6) years - Proven experience managing projects for large corporate entities with a focus on implementing overarching large-scale systems for use in multiple business areas within the corporation;
2. Ten (10) years - Overall IT project management experience (aligning with practice identified in PMI's PMBOK Guide, in recent years);
3. Ten (10) years - Proven experience in project management of large, complex technology projects, or program of projects; size of projects may be defined in terms of budget, staff involvement, organizational impact, complexity/number of stakeholders and size of organization;
4. Ten (10) years - Proven experience leading and supporting multidisciplinary project teams consisting of internal staff from IT and clients, contractors, and vendors;
5. Ten (10) years - Project resource planning and participation/input into project team resourcing;
Additional Skills & Qualifications
1. At least five (5) of the years should have been on medium to large technology projects, as defined by both size and complexity (size of projects may be defined in terms of budget, staff involvement, organizational impact, risk profile, complexity/number of stakeholders, and size of organization)
2. Five (5) years' experience leading and supporting multidisciplinary project teams consisting of internal staff from IT and clients, contractors, and vendors
3. Five (5) years' experience with project resource planning, including participation in project team resourcing
4. Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to build and manage complex relationships with groups/individuals with varying perspectives, interest and roles
5. Strong leadership, planning, change management and analytic skills
6. Well-developed communication skills including oral, written, presentation, facilitation and mediation skills (negotiation and mediation).
7. Strong organizational and time management skills
8. Previous work experience in the public sector or large organizations;
9. The ability to undertake multiple projects, manage competing demand s, prioritize and adjust resources.
10. Ability to work with a diverse audience and reach a consensus on critical project decisions
11. Ability to influence others without direct supervisory control
12. Previous work experience in the public sector or large organizations;
13. Formal training and /or certification in project management (e.g., PMI Project Management Professional) is an asset.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90.00 - $110.00/hr.
