Description:
Our client, a leading provider of consumer credit services, has an excellent opportunity for a Fraud Rules Writer to work on a 6+ month renewable contract opportunity. Work will be remote. The Fraud Rule Writer will help us to build out our underlying data sets to support the development of new strategies and to create data features needed to execute real-time detection rules.

Rate: $40 - $50 / hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, test, and deploy fraud detection rules, which make optimal use of ML models and data, directly within our fraud rules engine.
  • Author and maintain code to support rule execution, data ingestion, and decisioning logic.
  • Integrate the fraud detection system with various data sources, including internal databases, third-party APIs (e.g., identity verification services), and real-time event streams.
  • Manage and optimize the performance of the fraud detection system, ensuring low latency for real-time transaction processing.
  • Design and maintain data pipelines that furnish required data to the fraud engine.
  • Collaborate with fraud analysts and policy leads to ensure that data schemas and features are correctly formatted and available for utilization in fraud models and rules.
  • Utilize data streaming processing frameworks (e.g., Kafka) to convert streaming events into features for real-time decisions by the rules engine.

Experience Requirements:
  • Hands on experience and understanding of Git & Github pull requests
  • 1-2 years experience in Java
  • Advanced SQL capabilities with at least 2 years of experience
  • A general understanding of data streaming workflows and architectures
  • Experience working with Drools is a plus
  • Must be familiar with the following technologies:
  • Scala - our streaming codebase is built in Scala
  • Kafka topics - used for data streaming
  • Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) - specifically Pub/Sub topics and subscriptions
  • Apache Thrift - essential for understanding data serialization, as objects transmitted over Kafka/Pubsub topics are defined using Thrift schemas

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, cybersecurity, computer information systems, or related field.
