Manager, IT Infrastructure

This is a contract-to-hire, mostly remote position with an onsite requirement of 2-4 days per year in Southern Illinois paid for by organization.

Position Summary

Responsible for effective and efficient management of the infrastructure support section of ITS staffed by engineers.

Support areas include servers, Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity, networking, telecommunication systems and Epic technical support (desktop support) roles. This position reports to the Senior Director of Enterprise Applications.

Education

BS or BA degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Electrical Engineering.

Licenses and Certification

Relevant technology, operations or leadership skills, certifications or verifiable competency.

Experience and Skills

Technical Experience: 5 years Supervision Experience: 3 years

Physical Activities

Intermittent hand manipulation required Intermittent lifting and carrying of 20 pounds.

Working Conditions

Works in a heated, air-conditioned office with routine office noise. Operates a personal computer and general office equipment. Occasional exposure to moderate environmental variations and limited exposure to hazardous or potentially injurious elements or conditions.

Staffing

  • Manages the unit/department effectively in regards to staffing and staff supervision.

Role Specific Responsibilities

  • Oversees primary IT Infrastructure Team support activities which consist of installation, troubleshooting, repair and system administration of components including servers, and networking systems.
  • Works with staff to develop strategic plans for infrastructure components, which include operating systems, integration of healthcare system's information systems and networks.
  • Assists with development of annual IT budget and tracking of expenditures.
  • Monitors and assists staff compliance with departmental protocols and expectation for completion of daily work tasks, management and documentation of work activities and use of service management tools.
  • Collaborates with other ITS leaders to make sure systems and solutions are implemented in alignment with the needs and requirements of the department and healthcare system.
  • Accountable for Disaster Recovery / Business Continuity and a focus on High Availability for key Healthcare IT Services.

  4. Issues that need to be addressed by this Manager: A) Documentation is a big issue. B) Team Building and getting Team Members to learn additional skills). C) It is very important that this person be a self-starter and strong communicator.
  5. This position can be remote. This position will need to travel onsite occasionally (2-4 times per year at the organization's cost).
  6. Salary Median: $111,897.00 / Salary Maximum: $134,277.00
