Job Description

This position is for the Michigan Assembly Plant (MAP) Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) with concentration on the new 2024 Ranger interior body and trim quality. The Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineer is a member of Ford Motor Company's Product Development organization and is 'first line of defense' with regards to quality.

The Plant Vehicle Team (PVT) Engineer - Body Interior is a member of Ford Motor Company's Product Development organization. The PVT Engineer is 'first line of defense' with regards to quality and has several responsibilities associated with analyzing and improving the Quality of the vehicles.

In this position...

Review incoming warranty claims data pertaining to body interior design and trim daily. Review customer and dealership comments and bin claims into proper binning categories. Contact dealership/s for parts and repair diagnoses, participate in customer call back to ensure proper understanding of customer feedback and review returned parts for root cause analyses while developing Interim Containment and Permanent Corrective Actions.

Support assembly plant with Stop Ships/Stop Builds, Campaigns, Audits, Root Cause Analysis, and other Quality related tasks pertaining to vehicle body interior.

Lead vehicle body interior engineering commodity changes for future minor product launches and lead cost reduction actions in current production vehicles.

What you'll do...

Support Variability Reduction Team (VRT) for specific sub-systems and work closely with Supplier partners for subsystem components to address quality concerns pertaining to vehicle body interior and trim.

Lead engineering trials and the implementation of running changes for the sub-system.

Issue engineering Alerts and initiate and/or pursue authorization of engineering Concerns for product changes to support Quality objectives.

Engage technical experts and functional team members for driving resolution and in developing corrective actions to improve product Quality.

Make presentations to various levels of upper management (weekly VRT report out, Vehicle Quality Reviews, Engineering Managers reviews).

You'll have...

10+ years of Production Plant experience in the automotive industry.

Even better, you may have...

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
5+ years Forward Model Product Development as Design & Release (D&R) in Structures & Systems Engineering interfacing with Studio, Safety, Testing and Validation (VEV), Vehicle Operations Manufacturing Engineering (VOME), Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), and Ford Customer Service Division (FCSD).
Ford Warranty systems knowledge of ECB (Early Claims Binning), BSAQ Balanced Single Agenda for Quality.
Six-Sigma Black Belt.
