Our team is responsible for defining, measuring, publishing and optimizing key performance indicators of Akamai's nameserver platform. We take a holistic view of complex systems and identify the measures which matter most to customers. Partnering with multiple teams we address difficult problems that go beyond having simple answers.

Partner with the best

In this role, you'll assess the performance and capacity of our platform and make improvement recommendations. Having identified improvements, you'll work with product and engineering teams to implement new features and products. You will develop automation to reduce SRE toils for day-to-day work including handling escalations and proactive monitoring. You'll help shape the direction of our products and services and how we deploy our network.

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Designing, managing and tracking of Akamai's platform related KPIs to identify trends and changes to improve performance
• Acting as an escalation point for support, platform and product teams to ensure issues are resolved
• Investigating and analyzing platform performance to identify opportunities to maintain and enhance our advantages
• Leveraging skills in data analysis, network diagnostics and debugging tools to characterize performance and capacity of large-scale distributed systems
• Collaborating with internal teams to help trouble-shoot and resolve escalations and incidents for our customers
• Working with cross-functional teams to gather customer requirements and influence how the business deploys and operates capacity

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Have 5 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent
• Have experience working with and analyzing complex systems in UNIX/Linux distributed production environments
• Demonstrate experience in internet protocols such as DNS, HTTP, UDP, TCP
• Show excellent communication skills and ability to articulate technical information in a clear and understandable manner
• Be a self-starter, proactively taking the initiative to solving problems and have a drive to improve results
• Display excellent organization skills, managing priorities and multiple tasks

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $106,600 - $221,400/year; a candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
