Team Intro The USDS Privacy and Integrated Security team is responsible for overseeing and governing all activities of privacy impacts to TikTok USDS' operations. - We address complex and cutting-edge challenges, aiming to build the world's most trusted social media platform. - We partner with TikTok global legal, R&D, privacy and security organizations in advancing our privacy practices. - We oversee, govern and support the integration and optimization of operational privacy capabilities including data inventory, data classification, data retention/deletion, and incident response, etc., to ensure scalable, mature, and compliant privacy and data protection practices. We are seeking a technically proficient Data Lifecycle Management (DLM)-Governance Specialist to join our Privacy & Integrated Security team. This is a hands-on technical role within our oversight and governance function, dedicated to establishing and executing a robust DLM-Governance framework . The ideal candidate will be an important contributor to the Data Privacy & Protection pillar within our privacy program. They will leverage our global DLM-Governance framework to perform technical verification activities, such as data sampling and data sharing audits, to ensure our policies are correctly implemented in our operational environment. This role acts as a critical technical partner to both USDS operational teams and our global privacy teams, providing essential insights that inform and strengthen our company-wide DLM solutions. Reporting Structure: This role will report to the Data Privacy & Protection pillar lead within the privacy organization. Key Responsibilities - Establish and grow USDS DLM-Governance capabilities. Under the guidance of the global privacy teams, leverage global framework, conduct GAP analysis, design and implement USDS DLM-governance capabilities, including defining verification methodologies, reporting mechanisms, and a regular cadence for data sampling and auditing. - Conduct DLM-governance activities, through technical verification & execution. Perform hands-on technical verification activities, such as - Conducting data sampling from servers and services to verify that privacy-related data is being handled correctly. - Auditing and verifying data sharing practices to ensure they comply with global policies. - Analyzing data retention, deletion, and validation controls to confirm they are functioning as intended at the data-layer level. - Be a strategic partner and contribute to the global DLM-Governance framework. Leverage unique USDS insights into data usage and operations to help define and refine the requirements for new DLM solution services. - Provide leadership to USDS operating teams, serving as the DLM technical subject matter expert and providing guidance. - Work with USDS privacy team members to translate architectural and process-level risks into specific, data-level verification activities. - Engagement in special projects and additional responsibilities may be needed as the team expands and capabilities are enhanced.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - 5+ years of experience in a technical role with a strong understanding of data lifecycles, data models, systems, security & privacy toolings, and database technologies. - Proficiency in data analysis and scripting & query languages to perform data sampling and verification. - Demonstrated knowledge of major privacy regulations such as GDPR and CCPA. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach to technical verification. - Must be adaptable and able to navigate through ambiguity and vagueness within a large complex organization. Preferred Qualifications - Professional privacy certifications (e.g., CIPT, CIPP/E, CDPSE). - Experience in a large organization with centralized privacy governance model. - Experience with scripting languages (e.g SQL and Python) for data analysis and automation. - A proven ability to work independently and communicate complex technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders.

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $118800 - $196000 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
