Job Description:

Join GDIT and be part of the Unified Claims Acceleration Platform (UCAP) solution, where your work accelerates claims processing for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), our Veteran-first vision to transform the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) into a paperless, AI-enabled organization. Together, we're building a future of fast, transparent claims, empowered teams, and a zero backlog, directly supporting Veterans and making a real impact on the lives of those who served.

The Integration Architect / Technical Lead will lead the design, development, and deployment of UCAP's API-based integration layer. This role is responsible for building microservices that connect Agentic AI, Pega workflow automation, and external VA systems, leveraging AWS-native services including Lambda, Fargate, ECS, and EC2. The Integration Architect will guide a team of developers, define best practices for API design, ensure security compliance, and deliver scalable, reliable services that underpin UCAP's mission-critical workflows.

Work visa sponsorship will not be provided for this position.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the technical lead for the Integration scrum team, overseeing architecture and delivery of microservices and APIs in AWS.
  • Design and document integration patterns, data models, and security controls for all services.
  • Guide implementation of containerized workloads using AWS Lambda, Fargate, ECS, and EC2.
  • Establish CI/CD pipelines, monitoring frameworks, and operational dashboards for integration services.
  • Collaborate with the Program Technical Lead and other workstream leads to ensure end-to-end solution cohesion.
  • Conduct design and code reviews to maintain high standards of quality and security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues within the integration layer.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering and integration architecture, with at least 3 years leading development teams
  • Strong experience designing and deploying RESTful APIs and microservices in AWS environments
  • Proficiency with AWS Lambda, Fargate, ECS/EKS, and container orchestration patterns
  • 4+ years of development experience including hands-on coding in in Python and familiarity with Java or Node.js for API development
  • Experience implementing security, logging, monitoring, and performance optimization for production systems
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and DevSecOps best practices
  • Must be able to obtain a Position of Trust and pass a comprehensive government background investigation

Preferred Qualifications:
  • AWS Certification (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect)
  • Experience supporting VA or federal healthcare IT programs
  • Familiarity with Pega workflow integration and AI/ML service endpoints
