We're looking for an experienced Data Warehouse Engineer to join our clients team in San Antonio on a contract-to-hire basis. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Teradata, Informatica, and Azure cloud environments. In this role, you'll be essential in designing, developing, and maintaining our data warehouse solutions to support key business functions.

responsibilities:
- Oversee the entire development lifecycle for a team of Data Engineers and software engineers with assigned programs and systems
- Review coding for a group of Data Engineers and software engineers to ensure alignment with business needs, change control procedures, and Frost development standards
- Collaborate with and provide technical advice to Data Analysts, Product Owners, Business Analysts, Data Engineers, Software Engineers, and lines of business to estimate level-of-effort, timing, and feasibility, to design new systems based on business requirements, and to optimize system and program functionality
- Ensure your team has the necessary tools and guidance to deliver top quality systems.
- You will be responsible for overseeing the entire development lifecycle for a team of software engineers.
qualifications:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, in a related field, or equivalent experience
- Demonstrated ability to working in a Teradata RDBMS environment with a minimum of 6 years of experience
- Knowledge of system monitoring and maintenance for Teradata environment such as User Access, System Workload, Security and Backup/Recovery
- Demonstrated experience creating/developing/maintaining databases and associated DDL objects/schemas, such as Tables, Views, Macros, etc
- Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining user/application access layers and environments
- Demonstrated experience performing research and supporting Users, application developers, and Data Engineers
- Demonstrated experience establishing and supporting Change Management for Data Warehouse Environment (Lower environments to Production and Performance benchmarks and tuning etc)
- Demonstrated experience independently identifying issues and designing solutions for the biggest and most complex programs and systems at the bank
- Demonstrated experience synthesizing and directing coding efforts for a group of Software Engineers and Data Engineers
- Experience leading a team
- Current knowledge of emerging market trends, Cloud Native databases, development methodologies, and development frameworks that improve database application security
- Strong understanding of commonly used Data warehouse/Data platform concepts, practices, and procedures associated with programming
- Conversant in working with Agile teams and CI/CD processes
- Demonstrated experience in enabling automation and data literacy for the user community of the ecosystem
Additional Preferred Skills:
- Managing databases and data workloads in Cloud
- Teradata Vantage Cloud ( VCE) in Azure
- Experience with Cloud data platforms
- Informatica PowerCenter or IDMC
- Python
- Teradata TDP on mainframe
- API experience

This includes active listening to understand business requirements accurately.
- Problem-Solving: They need to be able to identify and troubleshoot issues within the data pipeline, optimize performance, and devise efficient solutions for data storage and retrieval challenges.
- Attention to Detail: Precision is vital. A small error in a data transformation script can lead to significant inconsistencies, so meticulousness is essential for ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Data warehousing projects are rarely a solo effort. Engineers must work closely with data scientists, business intelligence developers, and business users to deliver solutions that meet diverse needs.
- Adaptability and Continuous Learning: The technology landscape for data is constantly evolving. A good data warehouse engineer is eager to learn new tools, platforms (like different cloud services), and methodologies to stay current and effective.
