About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled SDN Enterprise Engineer to design, implement, and manage software-defined networking (SDN) solutions that enhance automation, agility, and security across enterprise, cloud, and data center environments. This role plays a critical part in advancing the organization's network architecture through controller-based networking, network function virtualization (NFV), and intent-based networking. The ideal candidate brings deep SDN expertise along with a strong automation-first mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect, configure, and manage SDN solutions across hybrid environments, including enterprise data centers and public cloud.

  • Design and implement automation workflows using APIs, Ansible, Python, Terraform, and other IaC tools to reduce manual operations.

  • Serve as an escalation engineer for complex, SDN-related network issues, providing root cause analysis and long-term resolution.

  • Collaborate with network architects and engineers to integrate SDN with existing LAN/WAN, cloud, and security infrastructure.

  • Lead the adoption of observability and monitoring best practices to ensure resilience and scalability.

  • Continuously evaluate emerging SDN, NFV, and network automation technologies to evolve the enterprise network strategy.

  • Support CI/CD and DevOps initiatives with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices.

  • Drive microsegmentation and secure container networking within Kubernetes environments.

  • Build and maintain technical standards and network architecture documentation.

  • Engage stakeholders across the organization to align technical execution with business priorities and deliver results on time and within budget.

  • Partner with vendors on solution selection and implementation strategy.

  • Support multiple concurrent projects with agility and precision.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent experience.

  • 7+ years of experience designing, deploying, and managing large-scale, multi-vendor enterprise networks.

  • Hands-on expertise with SDN platforms such as Cisco ACI, VMware NSX, or Juniper Contrail.

  • Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals and protocols (L2/L3, BGP, OSPF, VXLAN, EVPN).

  • Proficiency in network automation and scripting tools (e.g., Python, Ansible, REST APIs).

  • Familiarity with cloud networking in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE) are highly desirable.

  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.

  • Exposure to Kubernetes networking, container orchestration, and microsegmentation.

  • Strong understanding of network monitoring platforms and proactive performance management.

  • Ability to evaluate and recommend improvements based on business needs and technical requirements.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.

  • Self-directed, collaborative work ethic with strong communication skills.

  • Commitment to high availability, performance, and security in network design and operations.

  • Results-driven and able to thrive in a fast-paced, enterprise-scale environment.
