Job Summary
The Materials & Inventory Analyst is responsible for supporting the efficient and effective management of materials and inventory for the assigned sites within the Luminant Generation fleet. Demonstrating a competency in materials management and inventory controls, the position is expected to manage and improve materials effectiveness metrics to ensure balanced and optimized availability of parts/materials at the lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for the fleet. This position will partner with key business stakeholders in the standardization and sharing of parts/materials.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

Optimize inventory levels by utilizing inventory optimization techniques incorporated into the EAM system and through dialogue and partnership with O&M site teams (risk, cost, benefit)

Optimize parts/materials availability through determining the correct stocking strategy, quantities and replenishment methodologies (i.e., Min/Max, On-demand, VMI, Kanban, etc.)

Manage inventory reorder for assigned sites

Maintain and improve data quality including schema for item description, manufacturer, part numbers and vendor information as appropriate

Identify and pursue standardization of parts/materials and alternative low-cost substitutes

Provide materials and inventory expertise on cross functional teams, incl. sourcing strategies

Provide support to Strategic Sourcing group in materials/spares pricing, contract development and automation opportunities

Identify inventory centralization opportunities for common spares

Improve inventory efficiencies by identifying and reducing excess material

Manage inventory system items for updates and resolve inventory and non-stock discrepancies

Issue and monitor standard and ad hoc inventory reports, including trend analyses

Ensure inventory items/ non-stock material orders meet safety, MSDS and Hazcom requirements

Lead annual or periodic Inventory Review for all assigned warehouses, dispositioning obsolete or otherwise unusable parts

Optimize repairable items through repair process

Identify freight and delivery cost optimization plans, including material dispositioned for salvage

Drive cost savings vs. approved baselines

Lead process audits and warehouse process compliance audits

Support operations/maintenance personnel & warehouse attendants in methods, procedures and processes for warehouse operations.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

3+ years of warehouse supervision or other relevant experience in procurement/inventory management

Passion for reducing costs - enthusiasm for driving optimum business outcomes

Developing process orientation and demonstrated Continuous Improvement skills; Lean and/or Six Sigma experience preferred

Strong initiative; originates productive actions; generates new ideas, processes and approaches to meet business needs

Strong written and oral communication; ability to negotiate and persuade others

General business knowledge and acumen, with broad-based knowledge of materials management process

Strong ability to facilitate cross functional teams

Excellent analytical skills, with ability to mine and evaluate technical, performance and financial data for business case development and recommendation

Demonstrated understanding of financial and inventory management systems

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft office capabilities (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
