Backend Developer (Java or .NET)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Backend Developer (Java or .NET) in Trenton, NJ. This position is available as either full-time or contract-to-hire. Candidates must be able to work hybrid in Ewing Township, NJ (3 days onsite).

Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer with strong object-oriented programming skills in either Java or .NET. This is a hands-on technical role requiring expertise in backend development, system integrations, and enterprise application architectures. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in an Agile environment and open to learning and adapting to new platforms as needed. This position has great room for growth and will eventually grow into a leadership role.

Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and maintain backend applications and system integrations
* Work closely with business analysts to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
* Develop, test, debug, and document interfaces in line with architectural guidelines
* Apply best practices in object-oriented design and development
* Conduct unit and integration testing, and support system and user acceptance testing
* Support production implementations and troubleshoot complex technical issues
* Collaborate with Agile teams to deliver high-quality work on schedule
* Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior developers
* Participate in technology evaluations and proof-of-concept initiatives
* Provide accurate estimates and consistently deliver reliable, high-quality results

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field required
* 7+ years of object-oriented development experience
* Strong knowledge of object-oriented design patterns, software architecture concepts, and web application security
* Hands-on experience with Java or C#/.NET development
* Experience with enterprise application frameworks (J2EE, .NET Core, Spring Boot, etc.)
* Strong understanding of relational database technologies and SQL query development
* Knowledge of SOA, messaging, and web services
* Experience with SOAP and RESTful services, XML, and JSON
* Familiarity with front-end and web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, ASP.NET MVC, jQuery, etc.) is a plus
* Comfortable working in Agile teams with regular sprints and releases
* Excellent problem-solving skills, communication, and ability to mentor less senior developers

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
