Location Sacramento, CA Duration: Long-term

Project Description:

Client hosts a centralized Data Warehouse on the Snowflake Data Cloud to populate the Strategic Plan Dashboard. The Data Warehouse will continue to expand to house data across all Client s programs. Client uses Microsoft Purview for metadata management. Microsoft Purview will continue to house the metadata for the data housed in the Data Warehouse. Both Purview and Snowflake are being made available to all Client employees and role-based access will be provided. The metadata in Purview will continue to expand in line with the growth of the Data Warehouse.

Client has set up a Data Governance Committee which is responsible for identifying, extracting, managing, analyzing, and building out Client s public facing dashboards that align to the strategic plan goals. Client is currently rolling out a Data Literacy curriculum/program via the LinkedIn Learning platform to Client employees to help develop a Data Driven Mindset by empowering employees with the literacy on Data Governance and Privacy, Data Tools used at Client. Through this Contract, Client will receive expert-level assistance in all areas of data management (specifically Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, and Snowflake) to review various existing data management plans, provide expert-level recommendations for improvement to these plans, and assist Client with department wide implementation, support, and ongoing maintenance of all data management efforts including the Client s Strategic Plan dashboard.

Role Overview:

The Data Warehouse Architect designs data warehouse architectures to support organizational goals. They understand how to build data warehouse models that can optimally serve BI and analytic needs. They can evaluate the tradeoffs of different schema implementations (e.g., star schema vs. snowflake schema), consider data throughput constraints, and propose a best fit architecture and infrastructure for the defined problem.

Mandatory Requirements:

  1. Must have a bachelor s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or another related discipline. Please attach degree(s).
  2. Must have a minimum five (5) years of experience with Tableau, Power Bi, and Snowflake in interfacing, analyzing, and defining Business and IT requirements, capabilities, processes and impacts for data architecture.
  3. Must have five (5) years of experience applying information architecture principles. At least two (2) years of that experience must be in a lead capacity.
  4. Must have a minimum five (5) years of experience administering Snowflake Data Cloud, Business Critical Edition, to include: Cloning, Time Travel, and Failsafe, Access control and user management, Data loading and unloading, Query performance tuning, caching, and clustering, Resource management and virtual warehouse scaling.

Desirable Requirements:

  1. At least seven (7) years of expertise in Tableau, Power BI, Purview, Adobe JavaScript, D3, C, C++, Java, Python, R, SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and various related frameworks.
  2. At least seven (7) years of experience with data analytics frameworks, roles and skills, services, and processes.
  3. At least seven (7) years of experience administering Snowflake Data Cloud, Business Critical Edition, to include: Cloning, Time Travel, and Failsafe, Access control and user management, Data loading and unloading, Query performance tuning, caching, and clustering, Resource management and virtual warehouse scaling.
