Description
Our client is looking for a Lead Systems Engineer to oversee a team of 3 people while still being 100% hands on. This position is responsible for defining,
design, build, and maintaining a variety of data communication networks and systems. This includes the internal office network, Azure cloud services,
servers, end user workstation connectivity, performance, and support. Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to learn quickly in various
technical and creative environments, while delivering quality work with tight deadlines, are key attributes of this individual. This role also goes beyond
traditional management responsibilities and positions you as a strategic advisor and trusted thought partner within the organization.

Lead/Managerial Responsibilities:
  • Trusted Thought Partner: Act as a trusted thought partner to senior leadership, contributing to high-level decision-making processes and offering innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Strategic Advisor: Recognized as a strategic advisor, providing expert guidance and insights to drive the organization's strategic initiatives and long-term goals.
  • Outcome Creation: Responsible for creating outcomes at a functional level, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and delivering measurable results.
  • Complex Escalations: Handle complex escalations with advanced problem-solving skills, ensuring timely and effective resolution of critical issues.
  • Risk Management: Possess advanced knowledge of potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, safeguarding the organization's interests.
  • Manage IT Infrastructure technical team, including but not limited to, Network Administrator, Helpdesk team, and the Systems and Security Analyst.
  • Conduct ongoing performance evaluations the SSC Infrastructure team, including career counseling and guidance, and the development of goals that align with the overall organizational strategic plan.
  • Champion the development of talent, ensuring that effective teams are in place and capabilities are aligned with organizational needs. Train and mentor IT Infrastructure staff members on all facets of IT- networking, security, and complex troubleshooting.
  • Assist with the management and duty assignments of department consultants.

Technical Responsibilities:
  • Administer network, servers and associated infrastructure both at the office and Azure cloud.
  • Administer email systems, anti-virus, firewalls, routers, switches, virtual servers and systems.
  • Plan and implement network security, including building firewalls, applying cryptography to network applications, instituting two factor authentication, managing host security, file permissions, backup and disaster recovery plans, file system integrity.
  • Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft Office 365, Azure, Windows workstations, file servers, Ethernet networks, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems; Upgrades and configures peripheral equipment including routers and switches.
  • Review and analyze alerts and logs from firewalls (FW), intrusion detection/protection systems (IDS/IPS), antivirus (AV), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), SOC/logging and event solutions and other security threat data sources to gain awareness and report on potentially suspicious and anomalous activity.
  • Primary incident responder to any perceived or realized threats.
  • Participate in the design and execution of vulnerability assessments, penetration tests and security audits.
  • Independently oversees patch management system. Review patches, make determination, deploys patches to all endpoints in environment.
  • Solid understanding of cloud computing technologies and emerging computing trends.
  • Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
  • Establish and perform maintenance programs following company and vendor standards.
  • Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
  • Investigate, recommend, and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
  • Maintain site licenses for critical network hardware and software systems.
  • Ownership and accountability for internal systems, ensuring they are being actively monitored for security and compliance, successful data backup, business resumption processes and testing.
  • Providing escalated Tier III support for internal end users and customers.
  • Keeping all relevant certifications renewed and current.
  • Continuing education and knowledge upskilling.

What you'll need:

  • Proven experience in a strategic advisory role or similar capacity.
  • Ability to handle complex situations and make informed decisions.
  • Knowledge of a range of computer networking systems, operating systems, and languages to include Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems and Linux variants.
  • Knowledge of computing and network hardware and peripheral equipment. Ability to install, configure, and maintain personal computers, servers, networks, network switches, routers, firewalls and related hardware and software is imperative.
  • Windows platforms, Microsoft 365, and full array of Azure cloud services.
  • Azure networking, Azure firewalls, App services, SQL/MySQL as a service.
  • Knowledge of computer and/or network security systems, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN's, SSL cert management, network applications, procedures, and techniques including firewall configuration.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with network switching (Dell, HP, Ubiquiti).
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with network routing (SonicWall, Azure Gateway).
  • Detailed knowledge and experience firewall configuration and maintenance (SonicWall, Azure Gateway).
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with Ninja, Huntress, Rocket Cyber, Microsoft Defender and other end point and network security tools.
  • MS SQL Server, Power Platform, other cloud platforms
  • Multi cloud, hybrid cloud and on premises wide area network topologies.
  • Experience in Security technology platforms, best practice, and mitigation.
  • B.S. Degree in Computer Science or related field; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field.
  • Preferred Certifications: Azure Associate or Expert or in relevant technology AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator, AZ-500, SC-400.
  • 5+ years working directly with and implementing Microsoft Azure and Office 365.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $136000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
The salary range is $130,000 to $160,000 + bonus
