Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all .

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

Micron is looking for a passionate and innovative IT Software Engineer to join our Automated Material Handling System's (AMHS) team supporting our TD Fab as well as our future HVM Fab. AMHS is a system that uses software, robots, conveyors, and other technologies to transport materials within a manufacturing facility. As an IT Software Engineer, you will work on developing and maintaining software solutions that control and optimize the AMHS operations. You will also have the opportunity to learn from expert software engineers and collaborate with other staff members.

As a IT Software Engineer in the AMHS domain, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions that optimize our Automated Material Handling Systems. You'll collaborate with vendors, multi-functional teams, including hardware engineers, operations, and data scientists, to enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety within our manufacturing facilities.

System Design and Architecture:
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for AMHS software.
  • Design scalable, robust, and fault-tolerant software solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing systems.
  • Collaborate with vendors and hardware engineers to ensure software compatibility with AMHS equipment.

Software Development:
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code in languages such as Perl, Python, or C++.
  • Develop AMHS control algorithms, real-time monitoring tools, and data analytics modules.
  • Implement features for material flow optimization, equipment scheduling, and predictive maintenance.

Integration and Testing:
  • Integrate software components with AMHS hardware and automation systems.
  • Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and system validation to ensure software reliability.
  • Solve and resolve issues related to AMHS software performance.

Documentation and Support:
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and provide technical mentorship.
  • Document software design, architecture, and implementation details.
  • Participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers.
  • Build, maintain, and manage training and support knowledge material.
  • Participate in a 24x7 support on-call rotation.
  • Provide coordination and action with Major Incident events affecting operations including management of any required post-mortems and associated communication.

Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to AMHS.
  • Find opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements.
  • Propose and implement enhancements to existing software systems.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in software development, preferably in the semiconductor manufacturing industry a plus.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (Perl, Python, C++, etc.) and familiarity with Unix operating systems.
  • Knowledge of AMHS concepts, including Overhead Hoist Vehicles is preferred.
  • Experience with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and Scheduling Systems is a plus.
  • Practical experience working with databases and SQL.
  • Experience in Scrum development process.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
