OVERVIEW

Express Scripts is embarking on an ambitious project to enhance traditional applications with generative AI capabilities. We are seeking a skilled Senior Developer to design and build backend APIs using AWS and Databricks, supporting generative AI-powered applications. The role will involve leveraging your extensive technical expertise and practical experience in AI/ML to lead substantive discussions with technical and data science teams, guiding them through the intricacies of functional definition, architecture, solution implementation, and integration within complex environments. The developer will engage in unique business use cases, such as automating document comparisons, data extraction, summarization, and analysis. Additionally, the role will focus on developing applications to streamline knowledge management within the Actuarial Pricing, Underwriting, and Guarantee Management organizations.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • API Development: Design, build, and maintain robust backend APIs using AWS and Databricks to support generative AI applications.
  • Integration: Integrate generative AI components into traditional applications, enhancing their capabilities to perform automated document comparisons, data extraction, summarization, and analysis.
  • Collaboration: Interface with Actuarial Pricing, Underwriting, and Guarantee Management teams to understand business requirements and deliver AI-powered solutions that meet their needs.
  • Knowledge Management: Develop applications to streamline knowledge management functions across various business areas.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and best practices in API development, cloud computing, and generative AI integration.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for APIs and AI integration processes.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with business goals.

CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
  • Experience: Proven experience (6+ years) in backend API development with a strong focus on AWS and Databricks platforms.
  • Technical Acumen: Extensive knowledge of cloud computing, API design, and backend development methodologies.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in languages such as Python, SQL, Java, or similar, along with experience in deploying APIs on AWS.
  • Cloud Services: Strong experience with AWS services like Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, IAM, and others relevant to API development.
  • Data Engineering: Experience with Databricks for data processing, analysis, and integrating with AI models.
  • Team Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE DESIRED
  • Previous experience in the healthcare industry, particularly in Actuarial, Pricing, or Underwriting functions.
  • Practical experience in integrating generative AI solutions into existing applications.
  • Experience in identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) associated with projects to measure and track the success and impact of AI solutions.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 106,800 - 178,000 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
