Job Details
he Network Systems Engineer works to plan, forecast, implement, and manage network systems within the HFC environment. They are responsible for deploying and provisioning production strand radios via cable modems, ensuring end-to-end provisioning during initial deployment and troubleshooting any issues post-deployment. Their duties include participating in DOCSIS planning and deployment operations, integrating communication architectures, assisting in cable modem and CMTS implementation. (This role will be fully remote)
Responsibilities:
- Participate in DOCSIS planning/deployment operations and network architecture design.
- Integrate communication architectures, hardware, software, and protocols into complete network configurations.
- Assist in cable modem, QOS, and CMTS implementation.
- Create methods of procedures for modem config files, upgrades, and network changes affecting modem performance.
- Provision modem configuration files and provide tier support across organizations.
- Support deployment activities during the day and other shifts if necessary.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum three years of network engineering experience.
- Minimum two years of data network experience.
- Minimum one year of DOCSIS experience.
Additional Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Ethernet, SNMP, DOCSIS (3.0 and higher), RF transmission, and transport technologies and protocols.
- Intermediate knowledge in network design, architecture, protocols, and topology (OSPF, BGP, IS-IS, SNMP, RIP).
- Understanding of TCP/IP and the OSI Model, using ticketing and software tools for current operations.
- Experience with basic network devices, network appliances (e.g., Arris/Cisco CMTS), and network designing software
- Knowledge of HFC cable systems and provisioning, including DOCSIS technology
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with CMTS, Cable Modem, DOCSIS, QOS, BACC office provisioning, network monitoring, and DHCP.
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP or CCIP) certification
