Job Description:
  • The Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing testing activities for large, complex business systems.
  • This role involves developing test plans, test scripts, and test cases, executing functional and non-functional tests, and ensuring quality across custom and Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) implementations.
  • The specialist collaborates with IT leads, project teams, and business stakeholders to ensure systems meet functionality, performance, and accessibility standards.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance on testing strategies, plans, tool selection, and resource requirements.
  • Plan and organize testing efforts for GUI and non-GUI systems, including system integration, specialized, and user acceptance testing.
  • Develop and execute test plans, scripts, and cases for complex business systems.
  • Perform data analysis, cleansing, conversion, and reconciliation for large systems.
  • Conduct accessibility testing in alignment with AODA (WCAG2.0 AA) standards.
  • Test custom implementations and COTS applications, including IBM J-Rules Engine.
  • Utilize testing and problem-tracking tools such as Jira, Bugzilla, and Microfocus Product Suite.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams across business and technology areas to coordinate testing efforts.
  • Recommend improvements to test procedures and specifications for enhanced performance and quality.
  • Assist engineers with troubleshooting production or prototype component issues.
  • Maintain documentation of test results, defects, and quality assurance processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in executing manual testing and data reconciliation for large, complex business systems.
  • Experience developing test plans, test cases, and expected results for complex systems.
  • Proficiency in accessibility testing (AODA/WCAG2.0 AA).
  • Knowledge of workflow, portfolio management, and rule-driven business solutions.
  • Experience with web-based 3-tier software platforms and testing tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; team-oriented and collaborative.
  • Knowledge of Oracle database tools and desktop tools (Visio, MS Office, MS Project, MS Outlook).
Nice to Have:
  • Public sector experience.
  • Knowledge of at least one programming language.
  • Experience with automated testing tools and coding automated test scripts.
  • Experience with information retrieval packages and object-oriented testing methods.
  • Familiarity with Information Management principles, policies, and practices.
  • Experience with COTS applications and Accessibility testing tools like WAVES, JAWS, NVDA, Compliance Sheriff.
