The Minecraft Engineering Systems group is seeking a motivated Software Engineer II to join the Bedrock Build Team.

The Bedrock Build Team creates and maintains the core build infrastructure and pipelines across 15+ platforms. We ensure the security of the codebase, manage end-to-end signing of production binaries, and optimize development environments for hundreds of developers worldwide . As Minecraft is played on consoles, desktops, and mobile , our code base is multi-faceted and leverages cloud services such as Azure DevOps, GitHub, and many cloud-based Azure resources . The role would contribute new code and tooling to scale to additional platform or decrease total cycle time as well as reduce complexity in build configurations and enable key experiences as the team modernizes how Minecraft is created .

Responsibilities:

  • Enhance and maintain Minecraft build automation pipelines, services and tools, ensuring a high standard of quality.
  • Lead by example within the team by producing simple, extensible, and maintainable code.
  • Improve the security and compliance of Minecraft systems and code.
  • Actively participate in design and code reviews, effectively communicating across teams and stakeholders to achieve results.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C++
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years experience working in Gaming or Enterprise software development roles.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in Build systems (MSProj, CMake, Nmake, Gradle, YAML, GitHub workflows, etc.)
  • Experience working in Data Systems (Azure Kusto, Databricks, etc)
  • Experience developing Applications and Services on cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Experience working with both engineering and support teams in Agile based software delivery practices.
  • Experience creating and managing development pipelines in a large-scale product or gaming environment
  • Troubleshooting, debugging skills, and communication skills.
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
