Job Details

The Lead Engineer, I&O serves as a senior technical resource, responsible for guiding diverse teams through the complexities of various domains which may include networking, database, cloud solutions, and other technical areas. The Lead Engineer, I&O applies a visionary technical leadership approach to ensure the seamless integration of intricate technical tasks with overarching departmental and organizational objectives. Additionally, this role works with and mentors other engineers to identify efficiency opportunities, eliminate waste, and improve the resilience of Healthfirst s infrastructure platforms, while working with application development teams to support continuous delivery of new capabilities

uties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with management to shape and implement technology strategies and solutions across various infrastructure and database domains.
  • Evaluates and offers technical guidance during the design, development, and implementation of database solutions.
  • Identifies areas for improvement and proactively champion solutions.
  • Ensures database practices align with overall company vision by leveraging relationships with other departments.
  • Mentors and cultivates skill growth within the team, emphasizing current technologies and best practices.
  • Crafts scalable, robust, and efficient solutions that meet business demands.
  • Ensures comprehensive documentation is maintained, while promoting industry best practices.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Technical degree from an accredited institution or work experience equivalent with a high school diploma or a GED from an accredited institution
  • Senior level of hands-on enterprise experience, management and configuration in Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Redshift, MySQL, DynamoDB, and others
  • Experience working in AWS Cloud, Unix/Linux, Windows
  • Maintain database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary ('metadata') across the company and department.
  • Experience supporting and integrating database services both on-premises and leveraging cloud-hosted technologies.
  • Extensive experience leveraging cloud security best practices and implementing a least privileged model of access in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Experience with system health monitoring and optimizing performance following SRE principles with tools like (CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Splunk, Opsview, CloudTrail, etc.).
  • Participate in organizational Disaster Recovery exercises, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expert level of hands-on enterprise experience, management and configuration in Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Redshift, MySQL, DynamoDB, and others
  • - Experience supporting Oracle VLDB databases with DataGuard, GoldenGate
  • Strong working experience in AWS Cloud, Unix/Linux, Windows
  • Experience with Rubrik backup and recovery.
  • Maintain database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary ('metadata') across the company and department.
  • Experience being a part of a Cloud Center of Excellence and driving business innovation.
  • Experience implementing cloud services with an Infrastructure as Code methodology using cloud formation, Ansible, or Terraform.
  • Deep troubleshooting skills that involve analysis of logs, network traces, configuration data, automation tools to resolve issues until end-to-end systems are functioning.
  • Experience working with development teams as a database engineering subject matter expert to create cloud-native applications.
  • Experience working in regulated and/or high-security environments and industries (PCI, HIPAA, HITRUST, etc.).
    Additional Job Description

    Hiring Range*:

    • Greater New York City Area (NY, NJ, CT residents): $114,000 - $164,730

    • All Other Locations (within approved locations): $97,800 - $145,520


    As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, licenses and certifications, and any other factors Healthfirst deems pertinent to the hiring decision.
