ELECTRICAL CONTROLS ENGINEER
LOCATION: ITHACA, NY
DURATION: 12+ MONTHS / FULL TIME
POSITION SUMMARY
The Electrical Specialist plans and conducts work requiring judgment in independent evaluations, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. This requires devising new approaches to problems encountered. The position requires sufficient professional experience to ensure the competence of a fully trained worker.
This position will be primarily responsible to provide direction to electrical technicians, daily plant support, and project-based activities involving high volume production equipment supporting plant goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Systems
SCADA machine data collection implementation of system.
Leading to Lean and Ignition Software utilization
Electrical programs implementation of change management process.
Electrical software revision and licensing management.
PLANT SUPPORT
Safety risk assessment and documentation.
Key contact and oversight for NFPA70E.
Capital and improvement project review.
Electrical training: Develop, coordinate, and instruct.
Maintenance Electrician support.
PROJECTS
Research and development of new technologies with cost estimates.
Engineering/coordination of R&D jobs.
Job planning, timelines, design reviews, information sharing.
Generating operating procedures and/or training materials.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate detailed phases of electrical work in part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
Plan and design manufacturing controls in industrial plant. Maximizes efficiency by analyzing layout of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization.
Work with and advise technicians/engineers on assigned work.
Provide a smooth interchange of ideas and information to cross-functional team members (internal and external).
Foster and maintain a team approach and working environment.
Utilize strong methodical problem solving skills to drive to the root cause and implements sustainable corrective actions.
Communicate effectively to all stakeholders including plant personnel management, and external customers.
Some travel will apply.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (Minimum Qualifications)
Associates degree in Applied Science or 5+ years electrical experience.
Master Journeyman credential is a plus.
Experience in the manufacturing (Automotive) industry is preferred.
