About the Role
As a Principal Engineer in Security and SD-WAN Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and maintaining the reliability and security of Windstream's network solutions. This position requires strong technical expertise and the ability to collaborate across teams to drive impactful results. This role also involves acting as the technical consultant within and outside the department, promoting positive change in the company's business strategy through achieving specific objectives and technological innovation.

What You'll Do:
- Provide advanced technical support for escalated issues in Security and SD-WAN environments, ensuring swift resolution and collaborating with architecture and product teams.
- Architect and configure network upgrades and optimizations, while adhering to defined procedures and standards to enhance system reliability.
- Develop and maintain thorough documentation for configurations, troubleshooting steps, and incident resolutions to support operational efficiency.
- Work with Windstream internal teams to audit and optimize customer network solutions to ensure maximum service uptime, survivability, and sustainability.
- Manage small-scale projects and tasks while working closely with engineering teams or other internal teams as needed
Do You Have:
- Strong networking background with expertise in BGP, MPLS, and ISIS.
- Solid understanding of SD-WAN concepts and technologies.
- Strong technical background including industry-relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA- Cloud, CCP, CCC
- Experience with network security principles and technologies (e.g., firewalls, VPNs, security policy).
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network and security issues efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills for conveying technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences and collaborating across teams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field and 5+ years of relevant experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
