Position: BladeLogic Engineer

Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead with expertise in BMC BladeLogic Server Automation to support our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in creating and managing BladeLogic packages, scripts, and jobs for both UNIX and Windows servers. This role involves overseeing the installation, upgrade, and uninstallation of core and layered applications across various environments, ensuring compliance with security policies, and maintaining high standards of package quality and deployment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage BladeLogic packages, NSH scripts, compliance jobs, file deploy jobs, software deploy jobs, and discovery jobs for UNIX and Windows servers.
- Create and execute BladeLogic jobs for the installation, upgrade, or uninstallation of applications across QA, DEV, TEST, and PROD servers.
- Implement and manage Access Control Lists (ACLs) to apply security policies on various objects, including jobs, files, and servers.
- Administer user accounts, generate BDSSA reports, and configure Active Directory authentication.
- Evaluate and validate requests by downloading sources, assessing instructions, and prioritizing tasks based on complexity and dependencies.
- Ensure Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are met for package delivery.
- Package applications by creating MSI and tar files using Wise Package Studio and other tools.
- Conduct quality checks on packages to ensure compliance with client policies, procedures, and standards.
- Deploy packages in the client environment using BMC BladeLogic 8.1 tools.
- Lead the migration of BMC BladeLogic across different infrastructures, such as from Solaris to Linux.
- Upgrade BMC BladeLogic versions and client agents on target servers.
- Utilize automation tools like Ansible to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Proven expertise in BMC BladeLogic Server Automation.
- Strong experience in UNIX and Windows server environments.
- Proficiency in creating and managing BladeLogic jobs and packages.
- Knowledge of user administration, BDSSA reporting, and AD authentication setup.
- Experience in package testing and deployment.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure migration and version upgrades.
- Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible.

Remote conditions
Prefer someone available in Pittsburgh, PA, but open to candidates remote, preferably still in other BNY (Bank of New York Mellon) locations: Lake Mary, FL, or New York, NY.
BladeLogic was acquired by BMC Software and rebranded as TrueSight Server Automation and other related products. While some BladeLogic offerings remain under the BladeLogic name, such as BladeLogic Database Automation, the majority of BladeLogic products are now part of the TrueSight family.

Detailed Responsibilities:
TrueSight Server Automation (TSSA)
- Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain TSSA environments across multiple data centers and cloud environments.
- Design and automate patching, software deployment, compliance enforcement, and server provisioning jobs.
- Develop and maintain custom scripts (NSH, BLCLI, Shell, PowerShell) to enhance TSSA functionalities.
- Create and manage roles, permissions, and access control based on enterprise security policies (RBAC).
- Perform health checks, system performance tuning, and troubleshoot TSSA agent/server communication issues.
- Develop and manage job scheduling strategies to optimize server resource usage.
- Integrate TSSA with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow) and vulnerability management tools.
- Manage endpoints across multiple OS platforms (Windows, Linux, UNIX).
- TrueSight Smart Reporting for Server Automation (TSSR & TSSR-DW)
- Install and configure Smart Reporting for TSSA (using Yellowfin or the integrated TSSR module).
- Build custom reports, dashboards, and scheduled report distribution for patching, compliance, and operational metrics.
- Maintain the ETL processes that extract data from TSSA into TSSR reporting databases.
- Optimize report performance and troubleshoot data extraction issues.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and ensure accurate report delivery. TrueSight Orchestration (TSO)
- Install, configure, and maintain TSO environment, including Atrium Orchestrator Grid and adapters.
- Design, develop, and deploy automation workflows to orchestrate processes between BMC and external platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, CMDB, Active Directory).
- Integrate TSO with TSSA for patch orchestration, incident remediation, and compliance automation.
- Maintain security, certificates, and credentials used within orchestration workflows.
- Troubleshoot grid, peer, and adapter issues and ensure high availability and disaster recovery setups.
- TrueSight Automation Console (TSAC)
- Deploy and configure TSAC environments integrated with TSSA for centralized patch management and compliance tracking.
- Manage content updates (Patching Catalogs, Vulnerability Management Content) for TSAC.
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot Patch Analysis and Compliance Jobs through TSAC interfaces.
- Integrate TSAC with vulnerability management tools (e.g., Tenable, Qualys) for security remediation efforts.
- Collaborate with security and operations teams to manage patch compliance and automate vulnerability remediation cycles.
- Support customizations and extensions to TSAC s operational dashboards and APIs. General
Operational Responsibilities:
- Monitor system health, schedule maintenance activities, apply patches and hotfixes across all TrueSight environments.
- Ensure end-to-end documentation of installations, configurations, workflows, reports, and integrations.
- Participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings for production change requests involving TrueSight products.
- Conduct regular knowledge-sharing sessions with IT teams and provide training where needed.
- Provide escalation support during incidents, outages, and emergency remediation activities.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external audit and security requirements.
