Marketing Consultant

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Uses data and market research to understand the profiles, needs, requirements and buying habits of target audiences, developing differentiated go-to-market strategies and plans.

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies and campaigns designed to achieve business goals, ensuring plans are tied into the overall marketing strategy.

  • Manages marketing projects from strategy through execution, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder feedback loops are effectively coordinated and documented.

  • Develops value propositions, messaging platforms and detailed tactical promotion plans for each program/event, product or service. Ensures that plans are on budget, on time and attain attendance, utilization, and revenue targets.

  • Skilled writer of concise, clear and engaging marketing content across channels that adheres to AP style and brand voice.

  • Develops, directs, or sources original, creative, and effective content for marketing materials including email promotions, social media, videos, case studies, feature stories/articles, fact sheets, podcasts, promotional literature, advertisements, and direct mail to promote these programs.

  • Analyzes the effectiveness of marketing efforts (web performance, email, direct mail response, participation rates) in achieving revenue and engagement goals. Adjusts campaigns where needed and advises on product and service improvements.

  • Maintains proactive and professional communication with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment, transparency, and shared understanding of goals and timelines.

  • Recommends best practices and improvements to or new development of association products, services, and processes.

  • Consults with program managers for the creation and management of marketing budgets for programs, products and services targeting designated audiences.

  • Supports marketing leadership in the development of overall marketing strategy.

  • Ensures that the brand is appropriately reflected throughout all communications.



Formal Education Required:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, or a related field.

Experience and Certifications Required:



  • 7+ years marketing or advertising experience in a large organization managing integrated marketing campaigns.

  • Experience leveraging diverse marketing channels (email, print, digital, social) to drive results across segmented target groups.

  • Experience in event, product, and service marketing.

  • Experience with market research and data analytics.

  • Project management training preferred.



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (as demonstrated by prior work experience):



  • Knowledge of various systems and strategies impacting the marketing function, including marketing analytics and segmentation.

  • Proficiency with CRM and Marketing Automation platforms, website content management systems, email marketing platforms and Adobe applications.

  • Proficiency with design platforms like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite to develop engaging visuals for marketing materials.

  • Ability to collaborate across departments to develop and implement marketing strategies and achieve results.

  • Ability to maintain productive relationships with multiple stakeholders.

  • Ability to generate ideas in an energetic environment and create materials that engage and persuade.

  • Ability to leverage collaboration tools to prioritize and manage multiple projects, timelines, accountabilities, and dependencies, while being agile in a dynamic work environment.

  • Ability to review and edit marketing materials for consistency, clarity, and accuracy; recommends copy improvements and ensures alignment with program positioning.

  • Ability to establish and measure marketing metrics, and skilled in list management and marketing segmentation.

  • Ability to utilize and apply database management and marketing ROI analysis.

  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse membership, employees, and/or vendors in a clear and precise manner, demonstrating mastery of English grammar rules and editing processes.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point) and to operate various office equipment such as personal computer, copier, printer, fax machine or other job-related equipment.

  • Ability to provide service excellence by building relationships, being resourceful, responsive and respectful.

  • Ability to report to the office when required.
