SERVER AND STORAGE ANALYST
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Server and Storage analyst function is a technical position in IT. This position supports in-place technologies & technology users via defined procedures. This position manages Active Directory, server infrastructure, storage systems, and VMWare in on-premise and hosted environments. The position reports to the Director of Infrastructure and Operations and is part of a team responsible for providing technology assistance for various business functions.

The position reports to the Director of Infrastructure and Operations and is part of a team responsible for providing technology assistance for various business functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Implements and provides operational support for Active Directory, server infrastructure, storage systems, and VMWare.
- Manages hosting provider to ensure appropriate administration of the server environment.
- Establishes overall procedures around account management, groups and distribution lists.
- Ensures appropriate access control levels.
- Manages licenses and purchases as needed.
- Proposes, plans and implements system enhancements (software and hardware updates and upgrades).
- Ensures proper back up, recovery and disaster recovery practices are in place and leads recovery efforts.
- Collaborates with application teams for scoping of new systems or significant upgrades.
- Manages issues and ensures they are resolved to root cause.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Bachelor degree in Information Technology or related business field
Experience:
7 Years Information Systems Experience
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in IT field (computer science, information systems, etc.) with a minimum of 7 years' experience in Information Technology. Certifications in relevant technologies.
Skills/Competencies:
- Technical Proficiency - Extensive working experience with required technologies and can handle advanced & complex tasks. Knowledgeable in areas of Windows Server OS, Office 365, Data Security, Active Directory, Storage Management, Virtualization Technologies, Data Protection and Disaster Recovery Planning.
- Analytical Abilities - Advanced problem-solving skills including working collaboratively with peer technical teams to analyze & resolve cross-platform problems or to develop problem-solving techniques, tools & instruction for new or complex technologies
- Business Knowledge - Strong understanding of how supported technologies are used in the business operations, consistently uses this knowledge effectively in daily support and handling unusual/critical issues
- Communication skills - Strong verbal & written communication skills. Communications are complete & understandable to target audience; demonstrates effective listening skills; regularly handles difficult customers or situations effectively requiring sensitivity and diplomacy
- Independence - Often works independently with only general direction; appropriately keeps management informed of relevant issues
- Vendor management Able to work closely with 3rd party hosting vendor for the implementation and management of server environment.
- Merger and Acquisition experience is a plus.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Participate in staff meetings and team meetings as required.
- Develop understanding of general industry usage of supported technologies.
- Develop basic understanding of business processes and business dependencies on supported technologies.
- Develop relationships within IT and with supported customers to improve collaboration and teamwork necessary to accomplish organizational objectives.
- Participate in a development planning process where employee career goals are defined & understood and development activities are incorporated into the employee objectives.
