Job Description:
A premier academic and research institution, supporting a major regional initiative focused on accelerating the development and transition of cutting-edge microelectronic and radio frequency (RF) technologies from foundational research to industrial production. This program provides critical integration services, bridging the gap between innovative academic lab work and large-scale manufacturing capabilities for projects sponsored by both government and private industry. The scope of supported applications is broad, including next-generation wireless communications (e.g., beyond 5G), high-performance digital architectures, complex 2.5D/3D heterogeneous integration, and advanced sensor systems.
The Integration and Engineering Systems Support (IESS) team is a specialized unit dedicated to providing deep technical assistance to users navigating this transition from concept to prototype. We are seeking a foundational member for this team.
The Role: EDA Platform Specialist
You will be part of a central, expert engineering team situated within the main campus, collaborating with a distributed network of staff at partner university cleanrooms and commercial fabrication facilities.
Core Responsibilities
System Maintenance: Oversee and manage the end-to-end functionality of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) toolchains from multiple major providers, with a focus on advanced digital design flows.
Cloud Infrastructure: Administer and optimize the secure, cloud-based platform utilized for EDA software access, license management, and the maintenance of a critical Intellectual Property (IP) library.
User Support: Provide expert-level technical assistance and troubleshooting for both internal development teams and external program participants utilizing the EDA resources.
Ecosystem Development: Actively contribute to the design and implementation of a shared, cloud-enabled EDA environment that facilitates cross-organizational collaboration, tool utilization best practices, and knowledge exchange among partner institutions.
Qualifications / Desired Technical Proficiencies
Demonstrated proficiency in operating and customizing sophisticated EDA workflows leveraging tools from major industry vendors (e.g., experience with multiple tool suites such as those from Ansys, Cadence, Keysight, Siemens, and Synopsys is highly valued).
Practical experience deploying, managing, and utilizing complex EDA software on leading commercial cloud computing platforms.
Working knowledge across both analog and digital circuit design principles and methodologies.
Experience with the rigorous management, integration, and utilization of IP modules within established design flows.
Mandatory Requirements
Education: A minimum of a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a closely related field that provides a strong foundation in microelectronics engineering and semiconductor fabrication principles.
Experience: At least five (5) years of specialized experience managing diverse EDA tool flows and environments, encompassing analog design, digital design, and the full lifecycle of IP development, integration, and maintenance.
Why is This a Great Opportunity:
You will be front and center of one of the most significant attempts to create a process between the government and Universities to speed up the creation of custom processors. There may be major educational benefits. This individual will be at the crossroads of this project.
