Responsibilities

The Biocentre Tech Lead will manage the technology delivery of integration and lab orchestration capabilities, optimizing laboratory hardware and instruments to support HBS Biobanking operations in the new Biocentre facility. High level responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Support the Biocentre IT Team by making key technical decisions, guiding team members on implementation approaches, ensuring project quality, mentoring junior developers, and collaborating with other teams to deliver project on time and within specifications, essentially acting as the technical authority within the team.
  • Lead efforts to integrate lab instruments with data management systems for seamless operation and reporting.
  • Work with system integrator partners to ensure environments and integrations are delivered to specifications.
  • Ensure the alignment of sample processing instruments (automated stores, liquid handlers, etc.), orchestration software, and our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) solution, while advancing lab automation initiatives for enhanced efficiency and productivity
  • Provide technical leadership in the installation and maintenance of advanced lab hardware and instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to ensure lab technology supports scientific objectives and outcome
  • Update configurations in HBS Bank (LIMS for HBS inventory management) to include Biocentre printers and lab instrument
  • Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and subject matter expertise for Biocentre stakeholders and team member

Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in a scientific or relevant technical field.

Excellent teamworking, verbal, and written communication skills

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, collaborate and direct system integrators Experience in software installation/management Experience with IT system/software integration Knowledge of and experience with GxP and ITQMF

  • Knowledge of network interfacing for Lab IT
  • Experience with middleware (Mulesoft) desired
  • Basic understanding of/experience with orchestration software/Lab IT equipment automation desired
  • Experience with validation activities for Lab IT desired
  • Available on-site in the Gaithersburg, MD office at least 60%
